I went into my basement and drilled through the foundation about 20 inches below ground and ran electrical and pex out to my pole barn. The electrical and pex are both in larger PVC pipes for protection. I never planned on using water year-round so I put stop and drain valves in the basement and I winterize it. I put in an RV dump, to one of the side ports on my septic tank, but I have never used it… I always dump before I get home, at the park dumps. Craig.Re: How important is 90 degree turning?I only buy LB P/Us but I still don’t ever come close to 90 degrees..You can also mount the hitch a little behind center.. That should work fine with a 6’11” bed..Re: Pump issuesThe inlet connector on my pump had a brass insert, and it developed a micro crack and my system acted a lot like yours. I had to open two faucets to get water flow but as soon as I turn the faucets off that air leak would let the pump lose its prime AND the pump ran constantly. Even the tiniest leak on the inlet side will mess up the system, and I had to pressurize the inlet side to find that crack. I ended up replacing that inlet connector with a genuine plastic one, and never had a problem again. Craig.Re: Tow truck ideas / adviceI’m also a fix-it guy and I’ve been through all those problems but I’d be for dumping a 400k mile money pit. I haven’t had a gasser for so long, IDK which one has the least of all the later-vehicle evils. One of the 1/2t crew cabs. At least the 8 and 10 spd transmissions are a bunch better, now. Craig FWIW, I’ve read about new boutique steering boxes that were still sloppy. Someone who knows how to adjust it might be able to fix the wandering problem. My 12 Dodge also had those steering problems and after I replaced everything that was loose, I adjusted the box and completely stopped the wandering. I also had the alignment shop max out the caster.Re: Are most toilets pretty much interchangeable^^^ my Dometic 320 was the same but my mounting bolts are 10 1/2 inches from the wall so the 320 was a perfect fit. CraigRe: Dometic Gas/Elect Water Heater Sometimes Does Not WorkIf you’re talking about 120vac electric, that’s totally separate from the gas. I occasionally wipe off the porcelain spark rod insulator with alcohol and clean the rod tip with a scotchbrite pad. I’ve had to replace the spark rod when it was carbon tracked. I added a ground from the spark rod base, to the module ground point and that cured some very infrequent lockouts. The ground path for flame rectification is as important as the spark rod and high tension lead wire. CraigRe: Vent fans and coversI prefer the Maxair with the fan outside where we barely hear it. No remote and all manual but I made an extension to reach the knob. CraigRe: Are most toilets pretty much interchangeableI put in a domestic 320 a few years ago and it’s been flawless.. Chair height, elongated china bowl and a good quality seat. CraigRe: What to look for - construction / materials / optionsDon’t buy the lightest one you find. Mine has everything you mentioned plus the arctic package, tinted dual panes, a 16” boxed frame and it is 12k unloaded and 15k gvw. I’ve off-roaded a lot and it take it like a tank. I wouldn’t want anything less but IDK what is built like it anymore.. Oh yeah, it’s 31’ 8”, it has two slides and we have very comfortably half-timed in it several winters. CraigRe: Rear sofa movementOne of my previous fivers was the hardest riding trailer I ever pulled. It launched a gallon jug of water out of the sink, and it wasn’t even a rear kitchen. It had 2600 pound springs and 5200 pound axles and the springs only had 2 inches of travel Before the axles hit the frame. Dexter told me to go to 3000 pound springs but the 3000 pound springs were longer so I had to move the hangers out but they also had 3 inches of travel. That made a huge improvement in the ride and then I added ez flex and that trailer went to the best riding trailer I ever had. Do you have springs and rockers only? Ez flex replaces dexter rockers and equal flex replaces lippert rockers. That’s an easy upgrade, if you don’t already have some thing like that. My current fiver has morride LRE, which replaces the rocker with a box that has rubber sheer springs, and it’s a nice improvement over just springs and rockers. It’s even a rear kitchen and things stay put on the counters. I’ve also added shocks to my trailers that didn’t have them. Craig
