I had to call and talk to AL-CO direct to get the correct info. I had to know axle # number for them to tell me the hubs were interchangeable.Re: shopping for pots and pansGoogle Guardian Service Aluminum cookware. Last produced in 1956 and was advertised as waterless , low to medium heat. I still find good pieces with metal lids. I stack them and they work well. Best cooking pots you will find. Use them on any burner or surface.Re: Tire blowoutsGo to 16" 8 lug 7000 lb axle. It solved my problems of Broken wheels. I had 6 lug 15" E tires. Upgraded and went to heavier load range tire too. The existing axle is 7000 lb. I called the axle co. (AL-CO)and they told me it was fine to switch to 8 lug 16 in. hub and wheel. On my TH anyway. The 15" 6 lug wheel was stamped 2600 lb. which gave me only 10,400 GVW.with those wheels. The TH is rated at 11,800.Re: Bent frame and suspension issueWiley Coyote, I had a 28 Layton and put lots of miles on it including a coast to coast trip one summer three years ago. The frame broke and bent to beyond repair. The insurance co. totaled it out because it was going to be too expensive to fix. The box would have had to be lifted off and a new frame installed. Cheaper to buy a new trailer. So that's what I did. Bought a 30 ft. Forest River Toy Hauler BP. The wheels where under sized and I broke 5 wheels before having to replace the 6 lug 15" to 8 lug sixteen inch wheels on it. No problems since. As a matter of fact, Forest River compensated me for the upgrade. I really feel good about their help with this problem.Re: Going from 5vr to Toy HaulerI really like my TH 30 BP. Make sure you have the correct wheels and tires on that rig. I hope the one you are looking at is a tri-axle or tandum axle with heavy rated wheels to go along with the axles.Re: Broken WheelsIts been a month or so but today I received a compensation check from Forest River Co. for the replacement of the broken wheels on my RV. My faith has been restored in Forest River RV.Re: Best family boondocking rigs?My TH is great for the grandkids. put the beds up during the day and lots of floor space to play in. No slides either to conserve on weight. Kids like the bunk system and the back gate is real handy for in and out all day.Re: First long haul and lessons learned250 to 300 miles and 5 hours is plenty of driving for me specially if you are traveling cross country. Swollen legs, feet , etc. aren't nearly as bad when you stop more often and walk around. My last trip was three months and 8000 miles.Re: What Did You Do For Your Travel Trailer Recently?I pulled out the set-T and bought two compfy recliners and a smaller table to use. My TH does not have slideouts so this has given us more room to walk through also. Dania stores have a narrower recliner that has thinner, narrower arms. And they swivel and rock as well as recline.Re: Black tank not emptyingMy Forest River TH has a shallow tank directly under the stool and paper builds up there and will plug if I don't keep enough water in the tank to help move the paper toward the lower outlet. Sometimes I have to use the "wand" to push paper out of the way of the opening at the bottom of the stool. Extra flushes help but when you are trying get as much use as you can, the extra flushing fills the tank quicker. This is a frustrating feature built into these tanks.
