Good Morning Tom: I think you will find that single axle motor home now have a limit of 24,000 lbs on the drive axle. I believe it was changed a few years ago. If you look at all the specification for the single axle Entegra Aspires, Newmar Dutchstars and American Coach Revolutions, you will find the 24,000 GAVW on the drive axle . Other makes and models may also be using the 24,000 axles, but I have not looked at their specs. Cheers. LenRe: Freightliner or Spartan on new 40' Dutch StarThe 2017 Spartan Chassis has disc brakes on all axles vs Freightliners front disc and rear s-cam drums. http://www.spartanmotors.com/rv-range/newmar-dutch-star-45-k2-450-chassis/ For me, the improved brake performance all disc brakes on the Spartan chassis make this the better chassis. Unfortunately, there are some rumors that the rear axles will be going back the S-cams drums for 2018. A call to the dealer will confirm the Newmar's current plans.Re: Curbside or Streetside Kitchen? I have been looking at a lot of floor plans and have noticed that many driver's side kitchen have carpet in front of the kitchen cabinets, fridge and sink. In addition to the previous comment on standing in partially on the carpet and the tile floor, I also would think that there were be a problem with spills staining the carpet from the normal food preparation and clean-up. Floor plans with curb side kitchens normally do not have carpet in front of the cabinets. Of coarse, this does not apply to the 2016 and newer Newmar coaches with the tile slides(perhaps there are others), and my coach, which does not have any slides.Re: Help Us Find "Our" Diesel MH JCGibson wrote: ... Would that mean that if one tire deflated, the air pressure at the single valve would stay constant or equal to the good tire. If that is the case, then I'm guessing that the TPMS would not alert you if one tire deflated. rgatijnet1: You have raised a valid concern with Crossfires and a TPMS. I have a friend who had a Crossfire setup with a single tire pressure sender for his TPMS. His inner dual lost pressure, the Crossfire maintained the pressure on his outer dual, TPMS did not indicate a low pressure situation and eventually the inner dual started to burn. Fortunately the fire was caught in time and the coach was able to be repaired. He now has Crossfires with two TPMS sensors.Re: Air brake endorsement - Ontario membersDoug: In 2010, I was in a similar position as you in transferring from a travel trailer to a DP motor home. I went and talked to a truck driver training business near Centennial Parkway and Barton street in Hamilton about acquiring my DZ license. They had at that time, an ex Go Transit 42' MCI coach along with other vehicles for driver training (tractor trailer, fire truck). The 2 day air brake course was interesting but uneventful. Driving a 42' coach in the streets of Hamilton in February had its moments but the instructor was very competent. They coordinated the driving test and the bus schedule with the nearby MTO facility. Without going through a driver training course, I do not think you would be successfully complete the drive test on the first try. The ambulance driver, which preceding me, failed his walk around because he did not confirm his fuel cap was secured. He could not do a retest for something like two weeks. My costs were similar to the figures which Dutchstar posted, subject to inflation. On a side note, if you wanted to own a Tiffin Breeze, or a Foretravel U225 of U240, you could probably get away with an Ontario GZ license as I think they are under a GVWR of 24,000 lbs. If you want names and addresses to discuss the matter further, please send me a PM.Re: shortest tag axle class A?Back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, Blue Bird made some of their Wanderlodge coachs 36' long with a tag axle from 1982 to 1987. In response to the a previous post on this thread, there is an opportunity to incur extra costs with a tag. With a coach without abs, it is possible to flat spot the tag axle tires while urgent braking to avoid an idiot driver who suddenly swerves into the safety gap in front you and brakes after he spots the slowing traffic ahead.Re: Push button start towables not sure it applies to all !! rk911 wrote: ....we installed a completely separate wiring harness and a second set of bulbs in the tail light assembly of our jeeps. when we're connected to the MH the aux braking system uses this aux wiring harness and the second set of bulbs. when we're unhooked the original bulbs and wiring harness are active. simple and effective. rk911 My apologies for not making my previous post completely clear. Your installation of a second bulb in the tail light assembly works for incandescent bulbs. However, when I installed the wiring system on my 2015 Cherokee Trail Hawk, I found that the LED tail light assemblies are completely sealed and therefore there is no room for installing additional bulbs. I do like the suggestion by wa8yxm for installing relays instead of diodes. I may try them if I buy a new toad or have problems with the diodes that I currently am using.Re: Push button start towables not sure it applies to all !! rk911 wrote: how 'bout just installing a second set of taillight bulbs in the new jeep with a separate wiring harness? rk911 As the Trail Hawk has LED lights, you would have to use diodes to light up the factory stop, turn and tail lights. If I recall correctly, with diodes, the center brake warning light does not turn on with the coach brake light, but works OK when the aux brakes are applied.Re: cpap machineI have just acquired a Phillips CPAP that will operate on 12 volt DC if you purchase (at extra cost) its designated adapter cord. One of the cautions in the manual, is that you should not operate the unit when the motor is running. While the documentation does not explain the reason for this caution, I wonder if the electronics do not like the voltage spikes that occur with rapid battery charging. Or, perhaps it means that you should not use a CPAP unit while driving.:)
