I installed Torklift Stable Loads lowers, and that pretty much eliminated sway. I also added the stable load uppers, and now it rides solid.Re: SAD SAD DAY!!!If you have a companion traveling with you, be sure the class C you buy is comfortable for the passenger. Many class Cs built are built on a van chassis, and the passenger leg room is highly constrained by the engine cover. I ruled out buying a class C for that reason, and bought a truck and camper.Re: Trimetric Monitor, which is the best bang for the buck?Smart gauge has some interesting design ideas, but having only voltage and state of charge does not work for me. I bought a Victron because I need to measure how much current (i.e. battery capacity) is consumed by the power users in my camper. I also want to use amperage data to help me optimize my solar system. Proper installation of the "shunt" was easy on my camper battery setup. In addition, I bought the bluetooth dongle for the Victron, which allows me to check battery data on my phone, without going to the display.Re: New Lance 855 Anyone else having so many problems? We had a number of small problems with our new 850, mostly different issues than yours. Except for the DVD, the Jensen has rarely played an entire DVD. I read that it might be a cooling problem. I read up on the Lance warranty. Warranty for the stereo is handled by Jensen, not Lance. Lance does not provide warranty service for any appliances, windows, doors, and toilet tubes ;-). I guess I will take a shot at Jensen warranty support. Comments I read on the Lance Owners forum are not encouraging.Re: Loading Camper on TruckAt first reading, this may sound nuts.... When I did the first attempt at loading my Lance, I was driving and wife was trying to help. I could not see much at all. So, I put her behind the wheel. All she does is put it in gear and hold the brake. I walk around, spot the position, reach in the window and turn the wheel. Then, I have her let off the brake and let the truck move a few inches. I spot, turn the wheel, and she backs it a few more inches. Took us just a few minutes to place it perfectly using her help on the brake pedal. I have a stripe on the bed mat, and marks on the camper, but I cannot see those at all sitting behind the wheel. For me to do it alone, I think I need to set up a laser pointer, or some other alignment tools which I have read about on this net.Re: Looking at a new Silverado 3500 for the LanceI dont know about Chevy, but on the Fords, the difference is mostly how much you pay in taxes. Many states base part of the taxes on the load carrying capacity. The differences between an F250 and F350 SRW are the badge on the body, the sticker on the door, and maybe the tires, *maybe*. The drivetrain, axles, frame, everything is the same. Add the camper package to an F250, and you have the equivalent of an F350+. The big payload difference comes on the DRW package. I got all freaked out about the low payload on my F250. Then reading comments here and around the net, realized the GVWR and payload are mostly limited by tires. The important thing to check is the front and rear axle weight limits. Tires are usually the limiting factor.Re: Show Me Your Lance 850 SpeedRacer350 wrote: tc-lance wrote: Our 850, camped out near Quartszite about 6 weeks ago. We really like the overall package, but I would like a more comfortable dinette seating inside. That will be a project this year. I have made a long list of mods to the unit, to customize it to fit our needs. We picked out the 850 partly because it fits our long bed truck and we can easily set it up to tow our jeep. Do you use any type of extension when towing with the camper? I use a receiver adapter which raises the "truck" receiver so the tow bar is horizontal. That effectively extends the receiver back about 18". The 850 just barely hangs over the truck bumper. If I was towing a sedan, I might not need an extension, but I have not tried.Re: Suggest brake system for 2015 Wrangler UnlimitedThe RVi2 brake is a much smaller package than some of the other portable braking systems. Check the size specs on their website. This unit is not at all bulky and should easily fit behind the seat in the jeep. I decided to go with the RVi2 for my jeep wrangler because I did not want a cable permanently attached to my brake pedal (SMI and Unified). It would likely be ok, but I am picky about braking when driving on 4wd roads.Re: Show Me Your Lance 850Our 850, camped out near Quartszite about 6 weeks ago. Re: stableload quick disconnectI think it will work. The stableload kit comes with 3 wedges for each end of both rear springs. On my Ford, I did not have space for all 3 wedges, in fact, I had to lift the tail end to fit in 2 wedges. I only need 2 wedges, and have to take a little weight off to engage them. Handling of my rig is much improved with the stableloads. So much that I am planning to add the uppers. YMMV
