All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Newbie travel trailer buyer question - to slide out or notJust my .02 cents. We LOVE our super slide with the couch and dinette in the slide. Our floorplan is excellent and works just perfectly without the slide extended for those quick overnights or rest stop lunches as EVERYTHING is accessible (except the TV which we never use anyway!) We travel with our sister/brother in law with no slides. The difference is most profound on those rainy days when being outside isn't an option - so preparing dinner while people are hanging out inside and then feeding them and having plenty of room to do it means we NEVER use the non-slide trailer when there are 4 or more people. And we can add chairs for larger groups. PLUS we traveled with a 75lb lab mix and we needed all that floorspace to walk past or around her - and we put her big bed from home on the floor in the LR which wouldn't fit in the aisle on a no slide. There are equal camps to the slide/no slide preference. I will tell you brother-in-law was always "absolutely no slides ever" for many, many years. Having spent over 8 years camping over a month at a time with us (including dry camping - we have solar) has converted him. I just go with the floorplan that feels the most comfortable and efficient, then go after all the other details. Resale shouldn't be a consideration with any RV but I would bet if you take care of either kind you will have no problem selling. So my vote....YES get the slide(s)!!Re: 14 day meal planningThere is a good market at Colter Bay Village at the Tetons, and West Yellowstone has two nice markets in town just outside the Yellowstone West Entrance, and Gardiner has a good market as well just outside the Park's North entrance. Inside the park, you'll find General Stores with reasonable supplies at Canyon, Mammoth and Fishing Bridge. We always want to grab fresh produce and dairy every few days and these are all convenient places to pick them up and keep us from trying to stock perishables for a full 14 days We usually freeze items such as beef, chicken & fish for grilling - and we love the instant mashed potatoes, 90 second rice and pasta mixes which round out meals nicely and are easy.Re: Just bought a new TVBeautiful Truck! Congratulations, looks like it will be well worth having spent some extra. EnjoyRe: Heading out west with our 36 footerFlannel Sheets....:CRe: new 2015 340flr Open RangeCongrats! We think that is the perfect floor plan. Just wondering did you get the patio option, or did you see any with it? That is something we are curious about for "real world" use. Regardless, enjoy your new trailer, it sure is a nice one.Re: How often do you buy new trailer? jmtandem wrote: IMO all here that answering a senseless post... Whats the point Its just so stupid, again my opinion... And was just wondering why such a question would be asked.... So I will post ,because I was wondering, " How many cups of coffee does one drink when camping??" Geez I wonder how many will respond to that? 2, 5 , 7 . 20. all day long....etc...LOL Just trying to make this a better site is all and make members aware of their reply's to frivolous nonsense... Wow, we have gone on this RV forum from how many RV's we have owned to how many cups of coffee we drink at camp. Well, being on the west coast we are three hours behind the east coast folks so I am on my second cup. But, will catch up to you later. This has been with your one exception a fun, light hearted, enjoyable read by over 40 participants that did not think it was stupid or senseless. You always have the option of not participating in any discussion if you think it is stupid or senseless. Your mommy probably told you growing up that if you did not have anything nice to say then don't say anything. Good advice, really!!! And that just might make it a better site, what you advocate you are trying to do!!!! X2!!Re: How often do you buy new trailer?Enjoying this thread very much!Re: My $32,000 ink pen - photoVery nice!! CongratsRe: Best size TT for exploring the National Parks? Our trailer is 29' (I think 31' with the hitch) and we tow with our Tundra 5.7 with the 10,100 tow capacity. We've gone to Yellowstone, and a large number of state parks and Forestry campgrounds. Some places have a limited number of sites that we will fit in, but overall we've had no problems. We often see 35-40 motorhomes there too, so all it takes might be a little planning in advance. We like to have reservations so we know we have a spot we will fit in, but from there we explore and have been quite pleased with the sites we find along the way that work well. Towing with our Tundra has been excellent. Our trailer weighs 6800 dry.Re: dishesChinette plates. And we use regular silverware so still some to wash up, but ended up giving away the Corelle set we bought for the trailer because we never used it and they were somewhat of a pain to store.
