I check the 6V batteries in the spring and fall. They need about half a cup of water total at each inspection. I have a three-stage charger. It sounds like your charger may be defective if you have been topping off the batteries yearly.Re: Why Is My Air Conditioner Squawking?I would go in the roof and look or have someone do that. A new unit should not have AC issues. Well, it could be a thermal thing. Like something rotating is touching something when warmed up by the sun.Re: Good, affordable place to set up for towing?Bobndot, your write up above provided good advice. I bought a used towbar years ago and still use it. I have always bought the baseplate (3 times) and had the local autobody repair shop install them. On every towed car I have had the local auto repair shop install the wires for magnetic mount tail lights and breakaway wires for my Brake Buddy. I will say, if I were to buy a new towbar. It would be one of those advertised with surge braking. They sound much simpler to use. I do not think setting up each car was close to $1500.Re: House Battery chargingI had a 2003 TT that had most likely the battery charger that is in your 2006/5 unit. I say that because it would boil the water out of the batteries as you described. Dang… The solution is a plug-in gadget on your current charger that makes the charger into a three tier charger that will never hurt the batteries by overcharging. Boiling off the water. It worked very well with golf cart batteries. Come on you older folks, what is the name of that gadget?Re: Class C RecommendationsNot knowing how you envision using your class C. Or if you are open to used units. It is hard to make suggestions. I know nothing about new ones. But what I have in my sig below is my second class C and the best I have had. The Chevy 4500 is hands down the most fun to drive with stock suspension. The house is well made and has little detains like all the holes going through the floor are factory sealed. The only thing I miss is dual pane windows. Never purchased a high end class C. But Bigfoot & Coach House come to mind.Re: Shore power questionI have left all of my campers plugged in 24/7 with onboard smart chargers. I have to add water two times each year in the summer months.Re: Heating the GarageOP said.... To clarify, I'm referring to the garage in our 5th wheel.Re: Preparing to Leave in Hot WeatherAs the fridge is plugged into 120V. Just turn it on a day or two ahead on time. As long as it is semi level. It should work as advertized. Mine does, ice cubes in 24 hours.Re: Wabash & Erie Canal ParkWow! Has that place changed since the eighties when my kid’s BSA troop would camp there. Lots of fascinating history there.Re: Wabash & Erie Canal ParkI have been there many times in past years as a Boy Scout adult advisor. It has a very interesting history explained on signs as I recall. They only had a section of the canal filled with water back then. The tallest tree in the state was there. But I hear it collapsed awhile back but is still there. Lots of great hiking trails. Some with industrial relics on them.
