It appears to be some type of grounding unit as it goes to ground on one end, but the ground wire was unplugged and the wire from the other side of the unit was tied off around the rear axle. This is on a Thor Aerolite 2006 model.Re: Parking 5th wheel under electric wiresThanks Guys this gives me what I need to tell the new owner NO and have the backup to show why.Re: Bike rack on front of truckCarried my two bikes on front hitch for two years until very helpful Police in Kerrville Texas realized I was a tourist. Got a $250 Ticket for supposedly speeding in a school zone. Tried to tell him I wasn't speeding and got the You Tourist always speed. You want to see what our jail looks like. Found out from our park owner that is typical and when park owner saw bike rack on front of truck he said that's why cop knew I would pay. Bikes have been on back of 5th wheel since.Parking 5th wheel under electric wiresSold my 5th wheel last week and agreed to move it and set it up for new owner. Did so. Now he wants to move it to new spot but under active overhead electric feed to older home on property. I don't think there is enough clearance. Any one with advice on clearance in feet?Maintenance hintI know we all check tire pressures, wheel lug torque, grease bearings, and the normal maintenance items on our RV's, but recently I had an incident that I have never seen in almost 60 years of trailers and towing. I grew up in a shop that built farm trailers and other equipment so I am not new to trailers, but on a recent trip, the main spring bolt of the lead axle on one side of my fifth wheel apparently broke out, letting the leaf spring come apart, and the lead axle slid back, tire contacted the rear axle tire, and the trailer jerked sideways into a bridge abutment. Total cost of repairs over $6,000. Two new axles, two tires and wheels, springs, spring hangers, brakes and wiring, side panel for the trailer, paint, etc. Add the spring bolt to your yearly check list.Diesel transfer from spare tankI have a small (15 gal ) spare diesel tank in my tool box on a F-250. It was on the truck when I bought it. It is rigged with a transfer pump that plugs into a 4way light hook-up for power and transfers to the main tank with a hose. The problem is that I have to stop to make the transfer. I want to wire the pump to a switch in the cab and pipe the hose into the filler tube of the main tank so the transfer can be made while driving if needed. Some truck owners have stated that this wlll pressurize the main tank and cause problems. Any thoughts or ideas as to what I may run into doing this setup??Re: Replacement Axles for 2004 Thor JazzCalled Dexter earlier. They said there should be a serial # somewhere on the axle. I will look again. With the serial # Dexter will be able to match a replacement. Thanks for the suggestions.Replacement Axles for 2004 Thor JazzGot my stupid sign today. Hit a concrete bridge abutment trying to miss another vehicle taking up to much room. Took out front wheel and spring on right side of 2004 Jazz 5th wheel. Got it home and repaired spring hangers, replaced spring, tire and wheel. Thought I had it fixed. Now I find the front axle is bent enough to run out about 10 degrees. This coach has Dexter EZ Lube axles but I can't find size or weight rating on axle. Coach is a 30' with a 14' slide. Any suggestions or places to look for the info?
