But I am enjoying all the replies, even though they lead to additional questions and further embarrassment. I've shied away from the RV shops due to typical long wait time and prior bad experiences. Maybe with a few more of life's lessons I'll avoid making the same or similar mistakes again.Re: DIY vs. "professional" maintenanceAs this was my first attempt, I have a lot to learn about using this "forum." Thanks for the replies. Regarding the question of a torque wrench, all I observed was the pneumatic gun. (Can't miss that sound!) Spindle nut adjustment technique wasn't witnessed either. I was reluctant to hover over the mechanic even though work was done outside the shop. Thanks again.DIY vs. "professional" maintenanceTook our 26' tow-behind to a local brake shop after reading advice on wheel bearing lubrication and deciding I didn't have the tools & talent. Watching "professional" perform jacking, hub-removal and reinstallation I noticed three things: 1. jack placed under axle; 2. spindle not wiped clean before replacing hubs; and 3. new seals not used (according to bill). Each item contradicted tutorials I'd read or viewed leaving me to wonder if I shouldn't have attempted the work myself. Would any of the three "mistakes" constitute a serious offense?
