All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Thinking about changing from DirecTV to DishDropped DIRECT in December after 23 years. Went down hill the minute AT&T purchased them. Customer service terrible, big rate increases every year, and they are slowly dropping satellites. I read a article that stated AT&T's vision was that all TV would be streaming within 5 years so satellites will not be needed. All standard definition will be gone mid year and everyone will be forced to HD. When I asked about upgrading the RV the answer was that they don't do installs on a RV. Could not get the equipment without a install that they won't do and I repeatedly stated that I don't need a install. They would not send equipment. 23 years of being loyal customer and setting up my own dish every time I have camped in the past didn't count. Very few people remember that back in 1995/96 when system first came out that they were all self installed with a kit. So far been really happy with COMCAST at home and just plain over the air antenna when camping. Will talk to DISH if I decide I need it when camping. RanduRe: Jayco quality?2017 Jayco North Point 381DLQS Built in January 2017 and purchased new July 2017. Live in MI and work so only April-Oct season of extended weekends and a week here and there. I have towed 7134 miles in the year and a half and only 1 issue that went back to a very lame dealer. DEALER IS KEY in getting warranty stuff fixed. Had 5th wheels since 95 and work on everything that I can as I have more confidence in my repairs than many dealers. Overall I think the quality and features for the price are a good value and I really like mine. Issues: 1. Bubbles in living slide out roof and Bedroom AC not working on high-Went back to dealer. 2.Loose trim, wavy carpet line, Re-route bathroom faucet hose to not bind in drawer -- simple DYI repairs. 3. Weak brakes- DYI Saturday project to pull wheels to discover three had grease in drums from someone blowing rear seals at factory with the zert fitting. $8.00 in seals and a can of brake clean plus cleaning and hand packing bearings. All in the 1st 2000 miles, Trouble free after. ALL GOOD in the life of a RV'er. Flexseal IS NOT a new name for Eternabond ANYWHERE ! Flexseal is completely different company (Competition) and not even close in performance. RanduRe: eternabond vs flex seal tape for fixing rv freshwater tank Bird Freak wrote: I have used both. There is no comparison. Eternabond last. Flex seal is a joke. Completely Agree-- Not really designed for what your attempting but if it works, It will be with the Eternabond. I would take some fine sandpaper to the tank side to rough it just slightly to give the Eternabond some texture to grip. RanduRe: Wheel Bearing QuestionI track towing miles and go every 10k miles which works out to about every other year for me. RanduRe: Places near Dearborn MI for campingOne of the nicest that is reasonably close is Haas Lake. Haas Lake http://haaslakepark.com/Re: Best Time to Trade In 5th WheelAfter rig turns 10 years old then financing for the buyer sometimes gets tricky. No real data to go on but 6 years appears to be a sweet spot for some value remaining before repair and maintenance costs start to climb.Re: Keyless door lockKeyless touch pad or key use came on my Jayco. Its worked great for over a year on original batteries. Bauer is the brand and you set your own 4 digit code. RanduRe: Factory EBC or use my P3?Have used both the P3 and Factory EBC on 2014 Silverado 3500. Factory was much smoother and sold the P3. Nothing but factory on my 2017.Re: Beware Directtv Genie2Not sure exactly of models but I have Genie whole home DVR and HD in the house with a main box and a slave box. I have had it about 3 years. IN the RV I have a old Standard Def Reciever that must be about 10 years old with a old 3 headed dish. All same account. Thinking about upgrading the RV to HD but don't want to lug around the larger HD Dish. Randu
