My tank gives me a 1500 to 1800 mile range and this lets me select between several fueling choices which I pre-determine through the internet. My previous MH was a gas V10 with a 75 gal tank and that gave me less fueling options due to it's small tank size.Re: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006My Bluebird has a 300 gallon fuel tank and at 5 or 6 mpg I have exceeded 1000 miles or more between fillups. This doesn't happen that often because I buy my fuel based on price so I'm looking (usually on the net) for the cheapest price long before I get very low.Re: Maintenance Reminder for Full-TimersIf you have a rubber (EPDM) roof you can view the procedures for 'care and feeding' of rubber roofs at www.dicor.com. These folks are the distributor for Carlise Rubber, a major manufacturer of EPDM roofing material. They use to advise against cleaning the roof too much as this would wash away the oxidation layer. They said this layer, when left in place, would slow the natural deterioration of the roof. They now market cleaning products and protectants and say you can wash your roof up to 4 times a year. In any event they are still warning against the use of any petroleum based cleaners or products with citrus ingredients. These products will harm your roof and may void your warranty.Re: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006John D said Rob, Your choice of coaches will be very limited if you want all steel, even Blue Bird used Alu-a-bond a panel type aluminum skin. I do not think there is a real steel coach out there, Prevost ElMirage is now Fiberglas and Stainless Steel. Good Luck you might have to buy a school bus. I hear ya John, that's why I bought an older Wanderlodge. It isn't all steel but hopefully enough. The end caps are fiberglass with the front one being over a steel cage. The bay doors are aluminum skins over a steel substructure. The rest of the body cladding is steel with two layers on the roof. I wouldn't want to but it's nice to know that upside down the roof will support the entire weight of the coach.Re: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006Good topic and well presented. I would offer only one comment. I believe before anything, even 'Budget', should be a heading of SAFETY. Personally I prefer an all steel coach over anything else. I'm sure others can offer recommendations that maximize safety as well. RobRe: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006I agree with everything you have said and it applies to whatever RV a person might buy. I would add that people might consider surviability in an accident and fire safety. If you have a choice and can choose between an RV constructed with a fiberglass shell and one that is steel choose steel. Rob
