I put E series tires on, that helped alot in the wind.Re: Big enough tow vehicle?? If it was my rig, I would get the true tongue weight and steering axle weight from a commercial truck scale and setup the WD correctly. My TV/TT rig is very similar to yours - 3.6L V6, 30' TT, 7,000# tow, 12,000# gross. It is setup with a near perfect weight distribution. Last year I did a 4,000 mile trip through New England and had absolutely NO sway issues including going downgrade in the mountains at 70 MPH with a gusting 30 MPH crosswind while passing semis. I have a similar set up with my TUNDRA and works great. I have put 8to10k on this setup no issues. Be careful the weight police may be after us.Re: New 30' TT w/ SUV TV, numbers checkIf it works for you,run it. Use common sense with towing and know your limits. I pull a hideout 26rls with my tundra. Tows very nice, predictable. Most here will say you need a 3/4 ton or a dually to tow anything over a tent camper.Re: Lowest elevation routeOnly real high elevation is in Virginia. Long hills but low altitude compared to coloradoRe: So, Where's All the Oil Going? Are you using synthetic oil? I did my 360 years ago and ran synthetic right off the bat. It used oil for 6k miles till rings seated then it was fine. Took longer for rings to seat with synthetic oil.Re: Ram 6.4L Hemi vs Chevy 6.0L vs Ford 6.2L (gassers)If they put the Nissan in a 3/4 ton clasd, the tundra should have been there too Lol its almost in the same weight clasd.Re: NADA values for used Fifth Wheels lacofdfireman wrote: DReisinger wrote: They are usually more available in warm climates. They are in them as snowbirds and decide to buy a house and stay in the area. That is exactly what I don't want is a rig that's been lived in full time. Any rig I've ever been in smells horrible and you can tell it's been lived in. No RV can hold up to full time living like a home. There just isn't the same amount of space and building materials just aren't the same. I'm picky so I'm looking for a rig that has been used the same my I anticipate using one. As a weekender or vacation Fifth wheel. If I can't find that then I'll just buy new. I really like the Keystone Hideouts but know they are Keystones bottom of the barrel units. But they would work fine for us I'd think. We are currently in the process of selling our Motorhome so we aren't getting to serious yet. But when the time comes I'll definitely be throwing some offers around and seeing if anyone will realize that there unit is made of gold. We llike out hideout. Over 200 days with it since we bought it in September of 2015. Only issue was they use tiny short screws in the cabinet doors. Was able to fix that and add a few things for storage. Our review of our 2016 hideoutSince we got our 26rls in August of 2015 we have spent over 200 days in it. We have nothing bad to say at all. Some minor trim issues, mainly the trim holding the long doors on. Was able to fix it fairly easily. I even added a few shelves and end table. Everything has operated as it should. Have towed it with my tundra for 5000 miles with no issues. Over the summer it will get wheel bearing redone and 4 new tires. Our future plans may involve going full time and getting an upsized 5th and truck...Tampa rv showLast week my wife and I went to the Tampa rv show. What an experience!! It was almost mind blowing. Saw alot of motorhomes, way over my budget, really fun to look at. We are currently looking in the near future to up grade our travel trailer to a 5th to eventually live in 6 months up north and 6 months here in Florida. We narrowed it down to 2 units of the ones we saw. Talked to a salesperson from general rv center about the trailer we were inquiring about. He answered all our questions including what tow rig I would need. He says they will not let a trailer off the lot that doesn't have q proper tow vehicle. The unit we were looking at definitely needs a diesel dully. On another note I would like to get either airbags or active suspension for my tundra. Any ideas in the Haines city area, between Tampa and Orlando, would be great.Re: Newbie needs help with tow vehicleOnly truck to get is 3500 DRW diesel. ...
