It certainly allowed for more sun to hit he road and widened and added lanes. I have driven that road over 100 times and have said when I die I want my ashes spread along it LOL!! You should be just fine in Sept.Re: DishwashersWhen we bought our new rig I thought it would be a great idea but my wife said she didn't really want one. I think I wanted it more because it helps keep countertops clear and I'm a clutter freak. But she would rather have the storage space. She still washes by hand more than she uses the dishwasher.Re: Affordable Care Act And SnowbirdsIt was interesting when I was trying o sign up because I don't have what they consider an income. I live off money I have and the income it generates. So I don't really have a set income and they kept telling me that I need to be on the Oregon Health Plan at a zero cost. Well first off I don't need the free handout and second we travel all over the USA and are hardly ever in Oregon which I would need to be to take advantage of that plan. I was able to maintain my old plan for another six months so it will be interesting to see what happens at that time which will be April. That's part of what is wrong with our economy, the government wants to give free stuff to people that at times really don't need it or deserves.Re: Changing Campgrounds? We average 1 week in each location. BUT we are looking forward to finding a spot this winter after 13 months on the road to sit tight for 1 month.Re: Is Full Time what you expected? We have been on the road 1 year this month. It might be a little different that expected but it has been very good for us. I just imagines more gatherings with people as we travel but we only stay put 1 week at a time and a good chunk of that time is spent exploring so we end up living a bit of a loner life style. Not that we don't meet people and have conversation.Re: Headin' to FloridaOur plans were to winter in southern Texas this year. We did the Arizona thing last year (our first year)but we are going to take delivery on a new RV just outside of Orlando (Winter Haven)in mid Nov. so decided to spend a month poking around in case any bugs pop up with the new rig. We have never researched anything in Florida,, I hear the west coast is a little cheaper to stay on??Re: What is your month likeWe have been on the road a year and 99% of the time we stay put one week and then move on. We have had times we have only moved 100 miles and then settled for another week but never farther than 250 miles. We stay in state parks, private parks, COE, National and most certainly boondock when we can. It's a lot harder to boondock out east than farther west. We have never camped in a parking lot yet, but would. I will admit that after one year on the road I'm almost looking forward to finding a spot to settle for 1 whole month later this winter.Re: Awning sun shadeOurs is in 2 pieces. One piece is about 1 foot and is attached to the awning in the groove you talk about. And it does roll up with the awning. At the bottom of it are eyelets that the second piece attaches to and then drapes down. A lot of the time the 1 foot piece provides enough extra shade that we don't need the bottom part. But when we do use it I turn off the auto retract and pay attention to the wind and NEVER leave with it all set up.Re: Camp fire smokeWe just came from a campground that was packed over the weekend with lots of fires and everyone had them at the end of there sites away from there neighbors and all was good. But go figure,, the campground emptied out yet a rv was put next to us,, all good but they moved there fire ring so it was right under our window. And again fires mid day while it was 80 degrees plus LOL.. When I shut the window to stop the smoke from coming in I saw the fellow give his wife a big smile. I guess having the only fire going in the park and smoke rolling into another's rv was pretty funny stuff. Of course they soon went inside with the air running and left the smoking fire burn LOL!! It was ok because we picked up camp pretty early and I didn't mind sitting with the engine warming up a little longer than normal LOL!! What is it they say about to wrongs??Re: Keeping track of trip itineraryWe keep a blog and I have a spreadsheet that I keep track of all the campgrounds we have stayed at with dates,, cost and remarks. I also keep a goggle map of the routes we have driven. Probably a little over kill but I enjoy it.
