I just bought the truck less than a month ago and really like I so not getting rid of it. Also went to a local 4x4 shop to find out about the lift and having it removed. They soar it would cost more than putting a lift on the truck because of the type of lift that it has. Also they said it's a 4" lift not 6. Looking into putting airbags on now. Trailer will be getting a 2-3" lift and with the airbags illl be good to go. Trailer I bought is just over 9k empty. Pulled it with my truck as is up to 80mph the other day and it pulls great and not sketchy at all. I could probably Lela even everything as is and be totally fine but with lifting the trailer 2" and getting rid of trn15" wheels for 16 and airbags I'll be more than good. YES, bag the truck and RV add a lift to RV heck yea tow it all day at 80. For good measure maybe some 19.5's on the truck. :B Oh boy here we go again.Re: Manual or automatic airbags for your truck?I don't mind paying extra if it's that much better. On the other hand sometimes I wonder if I really even need it. My fifth wheel pulls so good now. It's never been sketchy pulling it I was just always under the assumption that you should have them. Do you think there really that necessary if have no towing issues. Or are they more for fixing an existing problem?Re: Manual or automatic airbags for your truck?Curious how you determine the PSI to put in the airbags. I would think measuring the top of the wheel well unloaded then put your load in the back then remeasure then fill airbags until your back to stock height?Re: Manual or automatic airbags for your truck? Only regret is that I bought mine just before they came out with ones with an internal bumper. l have to keep at least 5# in mine, with the internal bumper they can be at 0! No worries about damaging them. What was your reason for going manual over automatic? Just trying to h at a few opinions on why people pick one over the other?Re: Towing a fifth wheel with a 6" lift. Also I saw they now have a remote control or wireless fill system but it's $$$$. Hoping to hear some opinions from those of you that use the systems and what you like it don't like about it. Firestone or airlift? Does it really matter. Is one better than the other? We probably use our trailer about 10 trips a year. With the manual system how would you know if you've lost 10-20lbs without a gauge to look at and without getting out and checking with a tire gauge every once in awhile? Also where is the best place to buy from? And is there a specific model number that is the standard that everyone seems to be satisfied with. Thanks.Re: Towing a fifth wheel with a 6" lift. Second 6 inches is the recomended minimuum recomended clearence between truck and trailer. So in essence you will have ZERO clearence. Likely making it impossible to hitch up, much less attempt to drive down the road with it. On top of all the other mistakes you have made, if this is a 2500HD and not a 3500 even in stock form, which it is not, you likely will be overloaded just a bare bones trailer. I'm overloaded towing a 10k lb trailer with a duramax 2500? The trailer itself shows a GVW or 9300lbs. Thought the Duramax was good to 17500lbs? NoTowing a fifth wheel with a 6" lift. Will I have issues?I bought an 07.5 New body style Chevy Duramax truck and it came with a 6" lift and 295 tires. Basically 35" tires. We are in the process of buying a 2014 Grand Reflection 303RLS and I'm worried about driving out 300 mikes to pick it up because my truck is lifted. My truck has the B&W turnover ball and the guy is giving us his B&W companion hitch out of his truck to go with the fifth wheel. Is it possible I'll get up there to buy this and my truck will be to high for the fifth wheel to work? Also should I put airbags on my truck? The guy that owned the truck before me took the airbags off that he had on.Re: NADA values for used Fifth Wheels mtofell1 wrote: lacofdfireman wrote: I really like the Keystone Hideouts but know they are Keystones bottom of the barrel units. I ended up buying a new one just over a year ago. And it wasn't even so much cost. It just had the perfect floor plan for my family. I really dragged my feet because of it being the low end of Keystone. In the end, DW and kids loved the features so I own one. Overall, I'm super happy. I got lucky and haven't had a single problem in my year of ownership. I don't use it much so that's probably part of the reason nothing has gone wrong (yet :)) I think I've spent around 20 nights in it over the last year. The features on these newer trailers are nice compared to what you find used. And I don't know how/why people are so hard on RVs. I can never seem to find a used unit that doesn't smell like a dirty sock and have huge stains on everything. Glad to hear you like yours. Just found out a co-worker just bought a bunkhouse Hideout also and is very happy with it. One of the craziest things I've noticed in some ads are that the people selling make zero effort in cleaning the unit before taking photos. Clutter on the floors and counters, clothes laying around and beds not made. That I'll never understand but I'd never even consider buying a trailer that someone wasn't even willing to try and clean up before snapping photos to post for sale.Re: NADA values for used Fifth Wheels Durb wrote: Sometimes NADA is out of touch with the marketplace. I was selling a travel trailer (not a 5er) and a potential buyer offered me $8k which was what NADA suggested. He became indignant with me that I wouldn't accept his offer. We parted and I sold it sight unseen for $21,000 an hour later. The marketplace decides. If a seller doesn't get any calls at their asking price then they will lower it. I agree. But unfortunately unless your a cash buyer NADA is the banks bible and determines loan amount.
