Only problem is that he is about one hour north of Denver, CO. This individual has rebuilt my rear wall and repaired structural damage and installed a new roof after a tree branch strike in the past couple of years.Re: Freezer Cold/Fridge NotNo recharge. Off level operation can damage a propane fridge in short time. Some people have burped their absorption refrigerators and I did that once and it seemed to help. (google it). What brought my dometic fridge form the dead was: four CPU cooling vans in the roof vent for the fridge. I have two switches that power 2 fans and only turn on all 4 fans when the temps are above 90 deg F. When temps are 70 to 90 deg, I use only 2 fans. I turn all fans off at nighttime. I also installed 2 micro fans inside my fridge on the cooling fins to blow air around. With vent fans, internal fans, and a SNIP THE TIP adjustable thermistor, my biggest problem is prevent my food from freezing. WHen my fridge is fully packed, it stays at a 35-37 deg F all day long. When items get consumed, I have to adjust the thermister so it doesn't get below 32 deg F. Best mods I've ever done.Re: Off grid power 101660 amp hours of battery capacity 600 watts of solar Trimetric Battery monitor 1500 watt inverter with remote switch and auto transfer switch. No generator ever needed when we camp.Re: Boondocking and Phantom loads.600 watts of solar, 696 amp hours of battery capacity and I'm golden as long as the sun shines once every 3 days. Going to go up to 800 watts of solar power panels next Spring so that solar performs a little better on cloudy days. Right now I'm getting 7 amps/hour when it is cloudy outside and would like 10 amps minimum. When it is sunnny, I'm hitting 45 amps/hour easily.Re: Boliy generatorMy Boliy died after 7 years of use. Over the past year or so it became more difficult to put a heavy load on it. Recently it wouldn't even power my camper's converter with discharged batteries. Engine ran fine and engine compression was like new but everytime I put a load greater than 400 watts on the engine, it died. A new carburetor and engine speed control did not fix the problem. I got little support from bottomlinetrading.com and was disappointed that BLT stopped responding to my emails for support. Based on this, I can no longer recommend Boliy or bottomlinetrading.com I bought a new 3400 Champion inverter generator from another vendor and am amazed by how much better it is than my Boliy when new. It NEVER hiccups or stumbles even when I put a max load on it while in eco-mode.Re: Where to start with solar power?I'd avoid anything by "gone with the wynns" and find more credible online sources. Solar can do almost anything you want it to except run your a/c. Only drawback is cost and install can be a pain in the ass.Re: Low amps from solar panelsWhen I installed four 100 watt renogy panels, only 2 panels worked. Why was that? Because 2 of the 4 inline fuses I bought had no fuses inside them and the circuit was open. Please check your fuses for continuity.Re: Replacing inside lighting with LEDs Kayteg1 wrote: I bought initially few direct bulb replacement, but later bought on ebay a sack of those and at $1 a piece had lot of fun with them. For old fluorescent fixtures I could fit 6 of them, for bed lights and closet lights - single panel does fine. I like pure white at 6000k . Reading is much easier. They come from China faster than some shipements from East Coast... less than 10 days. I use the exact same lights for my hallways and bathroom areas in my RV. I use smaller and less bright lights from Ebay above my seating and dining areas.Re: 2, 6 volts or 2, 12 voltsSam's club has decent golf cart batteries. However, get the premium one since it has thicker plates than the cheaper one. The premium GC battery is rated for 232 amp hours. I'm very happy with mine.Re: Help me purchase a solar system for my class c.AC and solar not really practical and I suggest you accept this reality. I would not run fridge either because the load is quite a bit but if you insist here is what I'd get: 600 watt Renogy system. A 400 watt system with an MPPT controller is $1000 on amazon.com Another 2 panels is about an additional $250 or so. 3 battery banks consisting of 2 232 amp-hour golf cart batteries (Premium Golf cart battery is $112 apiece at Sams Club and is same as $155 Interstate battery at batteries plus. AUTO TRANSFER SWITCH for inverter. Make life easy to switch back/forth automatically between inverter A/C and generator A/C Inverter: Samlex PST. I have a 1500 watt one and love it. Again, you will need a 3000 or higher one for a/c but battery powered a/c is not practical. Trimetric 2030 battery monitor: A must to see state of usage and battery charge. My system is over 600 amp hours of battery power with 3 battery banks Renogy 400 watt solar, 40 amp MPPT controller, 3 battery selector switches Auto transfer switch/relay 1500 Watt Samlex PST Inverter with remote switch/monitor for inverter Trimetric 2030 battery monitor with 500 amp shunt 6 gauge cable from combination box on roof to charge controller via disconect switch 70 amp hour Progressive Dyanamics 3 stage charger with remote "pendant/monitor" moved within 3 feet of battery packs. 2 gauge wire for all battery and inverter wiring! Perko battery selector switches. Each bank is switchable on/off 30-40 hours of labor (hardest part is all of the cable and then removing panel under camper to run Romex back/forth) My setup is almost identical to this one in how it looks: http://www.loveyourrv.com/my-friends-awesome-580-watt-rv-solar-power-system/ Good luck and ditch the a/c on batteries unless you don't mind having 1000 lbs of batteries that will only last 2 hours or so running the a/c.
