Biggest concern has been, when away from a VA facility, out in the desert ect. First reason for this post was how others viewed the Veterans Choice Program or even if it's an option away from home.Re: Turned 65, use the VA, but do I need Medicare?Thank You for your service Ray and appreciate your offer. This getting old sucks, but got to perservere!Re: Turned 65, use the VA, but do I need Medicare?Crazy Ray and others- Don't know about TriCare? Not retired from service, only had 4 years in, but screwed my knee up bad in the end of my term and thus my 10% disability. Never had a charge from VA, except co-pay for meds (usually $8 a month). I don't do doctors unless an emergency when away from home. When I can and not working in winter, I go to AZ or NV and prospect for gold for a week or so at a time. Only emergency I could foresee would be something broken or snakebit. Otherwise I would head home. Appreciate replies, but still kind of lost. Have an appointment at VA in Fresno towards end of month and will try to find someone that can explain this to me. ThanksTurned 65, use the VA, but do I need Medicare?Thought I saw something about this, did a search but can't find. I have used the VA for about 15 years for most health issues, minor stuff I paid out of my pocket. Just signed up for Social Security. Have had an issue with my ankle for last 6 months and applied early at 65. I planned on trying to still work, altho much less, but with fractured ankle, work has been close to zilch. Consultation on ankle, another 3 weeks away. My question to whoever, I receive a 10% service connected disability. I fell into the scare tactic of the government and signed up w/ Medicare to avoid penalties, but now understand I didn't need to. And when away from home, need to sign up for Veterans Choice Program. Thought I did well when I hit 65. First made it. Home, old as it is, truck, and 'toys' are paid for. Anyone opt out of Medicare and just use the VA? I have had excellent service from the VA, till this latest ankle problem. Hey there are those who have worse problems so I don't want to push it, but have to watch my pennies. Biggest problem, I live in CA. Appreciate any replies, Thanks , ShepRe: Want to replace my power centerAgree w/ calling Randy!Re: Thank you for the refrigerator fan mod tipsGlad it works for you! I didn't use a computer fan, but bought the solar refer cap and fan. Put a switch inline so while not camping fan wouldn't run when sun hit solar panel. Keeping outside coil cooler helped my refer stay cooler quite abit!Re: Ideas on new TH?Appreciate replies. A few years back, there were'nt any short low bed TH's. I have my homework to do. Thanks, ShepIdeas on new TH?Getting older, presently own a 16’ Carson Fun Runner, which has worked out excellently since new in 2006. Have done solar, updated the inverter, It’s just tits for my prospecting trip into the desert, EXCEPT, tired of climbing the ladder in the middle of the night (if you know what I mean) Looking for ideas on a quality Toy Hauler w/ a low bed up front. Need the full 6 cu’ refer. Don’t need all the fancies. Places where I go, can’t go long, actually more of problem parking at home. Don’t think I could go over 22-24’. Appreciate any experiences. Thanks, ShepRe: gold claim bigred1cav wrote: You never lost coins or jewelry Shep? shepcal wrote: zippyphil, just saw an old post of yours. If,n it's BLM or National forrest, all a claim does, is allow you mineral rights. To buy a claim to camp on isn't honest. With a claim, you are exclusively allowed all mineral rights, but people can walk on your claim, fish on your claim, camp on your claim. Too many free pretty places to camp. To the one looking for a $200 metal detector; buy a pan and or a wool blanket and willow. Have a better chance ;-) Shep Folks out here take their claims seriously. Even looking for meteorites gets touchy.Re: gold claim;-)
