Some do buy a truck just for truck camper, but keep in mind that a truck/truck camper combination is one of the most expensive RVs for the space you get. I suggest going to some of the larger RV shows that will show you all of the types of RVs that are out there and demonstrate different floor plans. If you look at the schedule, there are probably some within a short drive/flight of where you live. Re: Can I use the same WDH when I switch trucks I agree. Yes. Most are fairly adjustable although you'll probably won't need to make changes. Re: Jackery instead of generator I've used similar products camping to charge/run small appliances/tvs, and devices. They are good for running small electronics etc. Of course, if you got a giant one, it could power everything. Most can be charged while driving, so you could take it with you to charge it during the day if you will be driving. If not, you could always have more than one. Re: Looking for bnk parts My Host has a net for the bunk. You might check with them. Re: any good truck camper forums out there? I don't think there is anywhere to go instead. Maybe there is a FB group. Also, maybe this forum software will eventually be more usable. Re: Truck Camper A/C instalation Many brands have directions on their sites on how to install a particular brand. Some are pretty heavy, so it might not be the safest thing to install on your own. The last one I had replaced was about $100 for the install which seemed fair. You may ask a local RV dealer what they charge to install before attempting it. There are a few people who've shown their installs on YouTube, so that might be worth checking out for ideas as well. Re: Center of Gravity Truck Camper I seem to remember that the measurement method is different among a few companies. However, COG isn't static. It will move based on where you put your supplies/water/gear, etc. Also, the affect on your handling will vary depending on how many people are in the vehicle and/or what supplies you carry. Practically speaking, larger campers are built for DRWs. If you have one that is in good working order, you are probably good to go. Sure, your truck may be worse than someone else's or a little better. However, if you want a more capable truck, there's not a lot wrong with overkill. Re: Any Hope for This New GS Truck Camper Group? I agree the formatting makes it harder to read the threads. Maybe they'll fix it. I'll keep dropping by (probably every few weeks) to check. Re: New Truck Camper Forum Comments I guess some growing pains are expected. It's not like the old site was perfect although it was familiar. I haven't found a good reading view, so far. The view seems to be optimized for showing pictures. Not a bad thing except they take up a lot of screen space. Also, the editing window seems tiny and there is no way to ignore people who are spammy to me. Re: Onan Generator Oil Filter CrossthreadedEven if it is cross threaded, it seems it could be rethreaded by a competent mechanic or the "bolt" part cut out and installed. But, as someone said, get a second opinion. I also don't really understand how someone cross thread an oil filter. It seems to me someone would have almost had to try hard to do that.
