I built my hitch.Re: question on on hitches on the back of fifth wheelsPutting 500# on the back of your fifth wheel won't lighten the pin weight 500#. Depends on the location of the axles.Re: Airbag assist rear suspension??Original poster, if you truly don't want to go cheap and plan on keeping your truck you can do what I did and go 4 link suspension with full air ride. I do not have springs on my 05 Ram. Imo, it's the only way to go for complete control over ride and handling.Re: I guess I bought the wrong truck !My 2005 Cummins would stop pulling at 109 until I disabled it. I've never tried my 2016.Re: 2020 Ram HD's - Pics JIMNLIN wrote: Better looking than the silly nostrils front grill. Either one is a compromise. Please explain my compromise??? I have a rock solid B&W hitch that is attached directly to the frame in 4 places that I don't have to worry about sliding. I have a HighwayProducts Top Quality 30" front to back bed height tool box for any tools I want to carry. I have plenty of room besides in bed space. I park anywhere "I" want. I have a better ride and stability over comparable short bed. OH ****!!! I can't fit it in my GARAGE. BUT, BUT on second thought I could if I removed the pool table from MY Garage. Tell me my compromise with my short bed...... I had a 77 GMC shortie, thought it LOOKED cool. Carpenter was my career, hated the short bed could not put 8' goods inside and lock up and there simply was never enough room. That alone is plenty enough reason for me. OH I built my garage door tall enough (8') to allow full height truck and my garage is a full 25' deep. So no compromise there! Plain and simple why wouldn't a person want the most bed space??? I have 3-8' garage doors and both of my garage and 30' deep...what does that have to do with bed size? That just means I have way more space to store stuff behind my truck. No one is saying that one is for everyone and one is not. Okay, you had a short bed and didn't like the fact that you couldn't lock 8' stuff in the bed. The way I see it you made it work somehow. It wouldn't matter if I had a 12' bed. I still wouldn't be able to lock the 8' stuff up because I can't have a cover on my truck. I would just own a dedicated cargo trailer for all my stuff and be done with it. The question of why wouldn't someone want the most bed space....why don't you own a truck with a bigger bed. The bed on my service truck is 12' long with 4' tall bed sides with tool boxes the full height and length of the bed. The back bumper is another two feet long with tool storage in it. So I ask you , why not by a truck with a bed like that? I could mount a fifth wheel hutch right on the bumper and roll out.Re: It's getting easier Lantley wrote: transamz9 wrote: It seems lot of you guys overthink things. I just get it close then back up to the hitch. If it's not right I get out and push the up or down button till it is in the tight place then back under. Pretty simple. I get it your method works. But my auto level will automatically return to hitching height. There are also techniques and gadgets that will eliminate the need to get out and check because the height is known to be correct! My auto level has the same feature but it's not always right. There are a lot of variables that can make it wrong. It only uses the front landing gear to get back to hitch height and depending upon how much the rear was lifted in the leveling process mine has been off a couple inches by using this feature. I understand that everyone want to make things as easy as possible but I still recommend getting out and looking before backing under 100%. Accidents happen by taking things for granted. ;)Re: operator commanded regeeneration ford diesel. Grit dog wrote: Towing or working the engine does not eliminate regens. I have not had my 2017 service truck have a noticeable regen. It has 4.88 gears and weighs over 19,000# 100% of the time. I drive it like it's a 6,000# half ton. I wonder if keeping the exhaust temps high causes the regens to be less noticeable? Even with the PTO engaged the the EG will peel hide. Lol my Em-Pac and outrigger controls cause me to stand right at the exhaust exit. It's super heated all the time.Re: long bed vs short bed for towing 5th wheel RV Cummins12V98 wrote: IdaD wrote: Cummins12V98 wrote: Why compromise??? Either one is a compromise.
