My favorite is Madison Arm resort, also on Hebgen. Been going there for 18 years but finally gave it up last year. The 5 miles of Forest Service road got to be too much. The FS doesn't maintain it very well anymore and it just got too rough.Re: Reno area Cummins repair recommendationsI had an alternator go out on my CC coming home a couple years ago and stopped in at Rocky Mountain Cummins to have it fixed. They took me in, replaced it, and I was on my way. They seem to be a well run shop.Re: Yellowstone Holiday RV campgroundWe stayed there last year for 2+ weeks. It's a nice park, on the water with boat docks. All sites have a picnic table and some have a fire ring. The sites are roomy and level. They have a nice office with an attached store. Thats the good part. They advertise being open until 9/15. After that they can close at any time. And, no matter what the circumstances, they pick up all the fire rings and picnic tables on 9/15. We did talk them in to bringing them back until we left. They have rules for the park and reservations and they stick to them. If you're going with the idea of seeing the park everyday, it's about a 15-20 minute drive to the west gate. It's a good jumping off point to explore Ennis, Bozeman, and Earthquake Lake. The NP is a great attraction, but the surrounding area has a lot of things to do and see also.Re: Former or Inactive membersI remember WTTCS aka Wacky Tacky Traveling Circus Show. He used to post a lot in ATC until they cut out all religious postings. He definitely had an opinion on things.Re: Las Vegas to South Lake TahoeI'm doing nevadanicks offering in the opposite direction after Easter. I've been on it a couple times before and it's all good road and an easy drive.Re: Avilla Beach availability late MarchWe try to get there on a Monday. It usually clears out by then and we've always found a spot. However, I've never been around there on spring break so I'm no help there. Since easter Sunday is the following weekend, you may be OK. As you probably know, there is an overflow area on the hill where you can wait for a spot to open up. Their prices have gone up a lot, but it's a beautiful spot.Re: NevadaI've been going to Moab for the last 10 years. The first time I went 80. I went 50 the next year and haven't even considered 80 again. Yes, if you break down it will probably take a little longer to get service but it's a much nicer drive. Nice towns and I can't recall one pothole in the road. There are several passes to go over, but all doable.Re: Thinking about where to retire? Some things to consider. Thanks Dennis. Especially liked the picking up Granola one. Still laughing.Re: Western National ParksYellowstone, Arches, CanyonlandsRe: Where can I camp next to a beautiful lake or river? We've been going to Hebgen Lake in West Yellowstone MT for years. Used to stay at Madison Arm Resort until we got the 45'er this year. We had to move around the lake to Yellowstone Holiday which has big enough sites. 50a FHU and a marina. The Madison River between Hebgen and Ennis has some great catch and release trout fishing. Beautiful area. By the way, we go in September when the crowds are less. It get very crowded in the summer months.
