Did I have to pay attention when pulling the Raptor in tight quarters? Absolutely. Would it hit the cab if I wasn't paying attention? Absolutely. I get tired of listening to people get their panties in a bunch about how you cannot use a short bed truck to pull a 5er without having a slider. So yes. Its that simple. Pay attention. Learn to drive.Re: 5th wheel hitch for 2014 RamI too use the B&W puck with no problems at all. Keep it simple. Learn to drive. No slider needed. Re: 2014 Ram SRW 3500. do I need a slider hitch for a FW?Not needed. Re: The new trailer came home Re: The new trailer came homeWe have the identical unit. Absolutely love it with zero problems!Re: Momentum 355 - anything to watch out for?We have had no problems at all with our 355. Taking it in tomorrow for a recall over one of the bolts in the suspension that the dealer contacted me about. Only other time I have had it back to the dealer in the last 1-1/2 years of ownership was because I ripped the back steps off! Top notch units!Re: Our New Grand Designs 355TH Re: Our New Grand Designs 355TH glazier wrote: Lantley wrote: proptwister wrote: kfp673 wrote: proptwister wrote: We love ours. Very pleased with it with zero problems. Far and above the quality of the Raptor we had. now that you have had your GM toy hauler for a while, how do you like how it tows with a 3/4 ton? They are heavy trailers so I am just curious. Does it pull stable? Yes they are heavy. 18,000 GVW on the 355. Our Raptor was 15,500 and rightfully so, you can feel it back there. I pulled the Raptor initially with my 07' Duramax and it did just fine, or so I thought until I bought my 11'. While the truck looks the same on the outside, the totally new frame made a world of difference in stability and rigidness. The difference from the 07' to the 11' is night and day. So yes, the trailer itself pulls just fine. Very stable and it does not scare me at all. I'm sure I am over on pin weight and a dually will definitely be on my short list when I trade trucks. But the only reason I would consider is for the carrying capacity of the duals over the single tires. At least on the Chevrolet, the only difference between a 2500 and 3500 is the addition of a leaf spring (I have bags on the truck to help with the weight) and the duals. Other than that, identical driveline, brakes, ect. Many of the "Weight Police" on here won't like that but.....oh well. Towing your rig with a dually will be like your upgrade from the 07 to the 11. While your current SRW seems fine, once you go to the DRW you will feel the noticeable improvement in stability. Similar to your 11' upgrade you will have to experience the difference to appreciate it. He has changed trucks, I saw pictures on the Grand Design Owners forum. He now has a Mega Cab Dually, it is black and looks very sharp with his Toyhauler Yes I changed tow vehicles. And you are correct about the difference between a SRW and a DRW. Night and day difference. I had always heard that if you tow with a dually you will never want to go back to a single again, but just didn't believe it could be that much of a difference. I cannot believe the difference in stability!Re: Tow Vehicle for momentum 385thI tow our 355 with a 2014 Ram 3500 DRW. No problems at all. I know the 385 is a bit heavier but you should still be fine.
