" At the risk of sounding dumb ID man, I can't resist asking---what do you mean by `popsicles?" Ah, after rereading I see I dropped an o. Nah, just worried about ice damaging the seal. Hi J Herb. Good to hear from you.Toilet Freezing IssueHi Folks. We usually migrate from here in Oregon to Yuma for the winter, but are spending our first winter here in cold country. I have always kept some water in the toilet bowl to prevent the seal from drying out. Now I am storing the rv here where it freezes at night. Is there any additive I can use for the toilet bowl water to keep it from freezing? I have found that antifreeze clots and fouls the toilet. I considered adding salt, but am afraid it would damage the toilet. Any suggestions? Thanks!Re: Emergency Medical Care in Yuma? Thanks to all who responded. I got some good ideas from you. But let me ask some more specific questions. We do subscribe to Rural Metro, but how fast do they react? And, when they get you to the ER, how competent have you found the medical staff? Then there is the isssue with medical records being ``back home. We haven't had much experience with the health care system, but I wonder if it is like a lot of other local businesses/institutions: ``Come bring your snowbird cash, but don't expect me to provide decent service---or even politeness---for that cash!'' Granted, that is a bit jaundiced, but we have been wintering in the Foothills for ten years or so, and that is what I have experienced. Does that attitude slop over to the medical establishment?Emergency Medical Care in Yuma?My wife is reovering from a stroke/heart atack. We usually hang out in the Fortuna Foothills during the winter, but have not acquired a good opinion of the local mediical care---basically formed by a couple of visits to the urgent care center on south Frontage Road near Fortuna. Does anyone have an opinion? We are trying to balance our particular health issues with the general covid19 situation in determining whether to winter in the Foothills this year. Any comments would be most appreciated. Thanks.Grrocery Delivery in Yuma?Has anyone used grocery delivery from, say, Walmart in the Fortuna Foothills? I think it would be a good way to avoid covid-19 exposure. If you have, how reliable is it?Re: Jump Start Question fj12ryder wrote: Most newish vehicles won't start, or even crank, when the voltage gets below a certain point. So basically it starts fine at 12.3 volts, but the computer says "No Way" at 12.2 volts. I'd be checking the alternator, and/or starter. What was the voltage when the truck wouldn't start? I'm sure it wasn't "stone cold dead", you did check the voltage didn't you? Actually, I didn't check the voltage. I didn't think the no load voltage said much about a battery---but maybe it does. Sure acted to me as though the computer just said not enough voltage and shut things down.Jump Start QuestionI am now on my third battery in our 2010 Dodge Ram 1500. On the two times I replaced the battery the symptom was a bit unusual. Turning the key would not even produce a relay click---stone cold dead. I tried on both occasions to jump start with a 'jumpit' with no luck. I even tried taking one battery terminal loose and starting with the jumpit alone, but no luck. (The jumpit was freshly recharged.) Has anyone had this experience? In the past I have seen battery failures much less sudden, getting at least a slow crank of the engine. I am mystified by this and would appreciate any clue. It seems that my carrying a jumpit in the truck bed is useless!US Cellular?Has anyone had experience with cell phone service for US Cellular? Particularly in the Yuma, Az. area? Tried to post this on the Snowbirds page, but it is currently out of commission!Re: Tire Pressure GaugeI wound up getting a Milton Industries Exelair digital dual head pressure gauge. It has a long shank that allows you to read it without stooping too closely and the handle swivels to give youthe best view. Seems to operate well. Time will tell. Thanks to all who offered advice.Tire Pressure GaugeAfter going through many inferior gauges, I have decided I need a good one---even if I have to spend a few dollars. Does anyone have experience with high quality gauges they are willing to share? Tnx.
