Gave us much more walkaround room, and eased access to the front closet. To each his own though. I know others who want the King more than the space.Re: average age of rverTent camped as a kid. Lived out of a pickup topper a year of my late teens. DW and I had a couple pickup overhead campers over the years, but bought our first TT in '92. Graduated to a 5er in '03, and now on the second fifthwheel. I'm 58 and only weekend as I am still working.Re: Back when camping was campingI've spent plenty of nights keeping the rain off my face with a dirty forearm before buying a tent. DW had a penchant for wanting to leave on a long weekend camping trip right after I got off work, so I have set up the tent many times at midnight in the rain with a flashlight clamped under my elbow. In DW's latter years we moved to a 5er and private campgrounds so she could have her oxygen collector plugged in all night. Now, while I love taking the 5er out, my youngest son and I will load a tent and sleeping bags to pull an ATV and dirtbike into the high country. I have given up sleeping on the rocks altogether though. We set the tent up on the utility trailer for the night.Re: cetane boostdiesel kleen. My duramax was the last year before the regen. Mobile one synthetic all the time and some Stabil in the winter keep it pretty happyRe: Chevy Duramax Fuel mileageover 40k miles, 14.5 empty, 11.8 with the 5er in my sig. I pull serious hills.Re: What do you think about Montana 5ver?The Montana in my sig. has never given me any reason not to love it. What little warrantee work I have had done was on items that were from other manufacturers. People will report the good and the bad. I can only say I love my Montana.Re: square footage?OK sports fans. Useful square footage of my 5er or my stick home has always stymied me. We're not dumb. I have a Master's Degree. The more we know, the more complex it becomes. Of course I can measure square footage for flooring I need. Living space with slideouts becomes another question. Sure, I can use the Pythagorean Theorem to measure what roofing material I have for my stick home. While I know my 5er is 40 feet long and can multiply my width to give me a total square footage, that's not useful in my living space, or the exact number of people I need to throw out before ascertaining bed space by alcohol levels. We all have space questions, and it's unfair to judge what those are without being the one to ask.Re: Clunking noise while towingYep, Reese clunk. However, knowing that nothing is wrong, the sound is intrinsic in the hitch design, I keep towing and ignore it as I have for the last 9 years.Re: You MIGHT be an RV'r if . . .A couple for those who are still working: ...if your office business meeting ends with discussion of whether anyone can get their RV into a local state park yet. ...If you schedule out of town business meetings so you can get to the CW in that city, and back home before DW wonders why you are so late. The first actually happened this morning in my office.Re: Your RigA couple of our new Montana 3605RL. Still muddy and frozen here. Really looking forward to camping season.
