For the nosy posters: 2014 4Wheel Grandby on a 2006 F150 4x4 short bed super crew. (under 80k miles) Plus swaybar / shocks / struts as advised by this forum. Yes, I weighed it and I can keep it within weight limits. Drove it cross country and through Rocky Mt National Park without any problems.LENGTHI haven't posted in quite some time. I love my TC, but in two years I will replace at least the truck. (Because I am at the polar opposite of mechanically inclined!) I understand the weight restrictions, but I do not understand how to calculate the length of the truck plus camper. My next truck will probably be a F350 super crew long bed. Any guidance provided would be greatly appreciated.Re: Four Wheel Hawk-Pros and consI have a 2014 FWC Grandby and I love it. Really easy to pop up and down. It has heat and air, but the camper is usually 20 degrees warmer / cooler than the outside air.Re: Baxter SPI noticed that a reservation is needed to PARK for day use as well, with Maine residents getting priority.Re: Swan Song AftermathI like my truck camper because it can easily go wherever my car (small Subaru)can go. Of course it takes more space than a Smart Car :) I drove cross-country during a month's vacation. I was able to park at all the fast food restaurants and tourist attractions. When severe weather warnings arose, I stopped at a motel (needed only one regular parking space). When the wind was howling and the rain pouring down, we appreciated a hot bath, movie channels, and a ready breakfast. When the weather was clear, we appreciated seeing all the stars during our middle of the night strolls to the loo. Out of 30 days, we had to cancel 4 nights of camping due to weather. Once, I was too tired to keep driving and we stopped at a motel. I averaged between 13 and 15 mpg. I think my truck camper gives me the best of three alternatives. Since it is a pop-up, I have some of the feel of a tent, without having to spend time cleaning and stuffing the tent. As in a motorhome, I have conveniences such as power and my own furnishings. If I choose, I can eat at a restaurant or sleep in a building.Re: Suspension upgrades? My truck is a 2006 F150 Supercrew 4x4 6.5box. My camper weighs about 1000 lbs empty. After receiving answers to my posts in this forum, I put a Hellwig anti-sway bar and SuperSprings on the truck. The rear is higher than the front. I just drove cross country without any problems.Re: What C's have 25' widebody plans like this?I found that model for sale on RV Trader in Idaho. There should be another when you are ready to buy.Re: Whazoo's "It's not a trip report" trip reportCongrats on the grandbabies! Thanks for the not a trip report!Re: Need help in finding an RV site in Cathedral City Ca. area jimh425 wrote: http://www.sbcountyparks.com/reservations/flash/flashReservations.asp?park_idno=11 Yucaipa is quite a distance from Cathedral City. It is nice and green though.
