Opinions on a 2016 Winnebago Winnie Drop?
I've been looking at a used 2016 Winnie Drop that appears to be in excellent condition and would appreciate any feedback. I'm also seeing a R-Pod that looks to be a contender too. I read that Winnebago likely has better build quality? Anyone have experience or know of any reasons to avoid? Hoping for some feedback on trailer quality between these two. I'm a Class C guy, but helping out my sister who is 1,800 miles away and a first time trailer soon to be owner. One thing I noticed is the Zinger has the a/c unit in the wall vs the Cherokee on roof. Preference? Weight of the 16' is 3012 vs 18' at 3362. She has a 1/2 pickup so good there. I'm in N. California and while familiar with various Class C, trailers, etc., this Palamino brand is new to me. I could make a case for either hard side or canvas and would appreciate some input. I'm helping out my sister by trying to find a used trailer under 20'. I did find a Forest River model in great shape, but it does not have A/C and since we are in California, it's pretty much needed at times. What's the easiest/best solution? Generator running a portable unit, having a roof A/C installed, or? Anyone know ballpark cost of the first two solutions? So did you buy the rig? I see them up here in Sacramento area around that year for $8500-$10,000 and in good to excellent condition. IF it's been taken care of, there is no downside. Take it to a good wrench for new hoses, belts, fluids flushed (including brake fluid), install new brake pads and hoses, get the roof sealed, flush out the holding tanks, service the generator, new rubber, and enjoy the heck out of it. Betting all of this can be done for under $2500. or so. You can buy a newer 2006 on up for $17,000 and still spend $3,000+ on getting it road worthy. Don't worry about the Triton engine with the 2 valve..we had a 1999 (98 production year) and that beast never let us down.Plenty of power and don't worry about any spark plug issue.
