I don't mind staying outside of Sedona and traveling in with the toad. I'deally I'd like to stay in one park when there and also taking the toad to the Grand Canyon. It's a 4x4 so driving in snow should be fine. With regard to snow levels, would it be enough to require chains for the motorhome?Re: Sedona in December? Thanks, for the feedback.. I'd still like to go and would appreciate any insight to the weather and roads in December. Will also be driving to the Grand Canyon.Sedona in December? So we just got back from our 10 day road trip through the PNW and already talking about where our next trip is going to be. We're thinking of driving to Sedona from the Bay Area the week of Christmas. Anybody have any experience with Sedona this time of year? I read it can get a light dusting of snow but that it's typically mild highs in the 50s. Ideally we'd also take a day trip to the Grand Canyon. We'll be towing our Jeep 4x4 with us as well.Re: Lynden/Aldergrove Border Crossing slickest1 wrote: I use both Sumas and Aldergrove crossings regularly. Sumas is often more busy than Aldergrove so we go there when that happens. I find Aldergrove easier with a Class A as the booths seem to be wider. If you cross at Aldergrove it is a straight shot to hwy 1 and then straight into Vancouver. Yes the traffic is busy but if you do it in the late morning early afternoon it will probably be the best time. Sumas will take you farther east than you need to go for not much benefit. The Peace Arch and Truck crossings are usually busier and more traffic. I would do Aldergrove but that's just me. Thanks everyone. At this point I think I'm going through Aldergrove. I'm never too concerned about time it takes. I get there when I get there. Thanks for the tips. I'll fill up before I get in and as far as a brake systems I use an RVI so I should be good to go. Slickest1, you mention using Aldergrove frequently. Is the an RV Lane or is it just the standard passenger lane? I believe it was re-designed recently not sure if you've been there since.Re: Lynden/Aldergrove Border Crossing HouseApe wrote: That's a long way east off the I5 just to head back west again. Just take the Peace Arch or the Truck crossing. Peace Arch is wide open. Truck Crossing stay in the left lanes. Also fill up just befor your cross you won't like the price of gas here $3.51 a gallon (in US$) or $1.27 per litre ($0.92 in US$). Really? The 539 is right off of 5. I figured I was just heading north earlier before heading west to Capilano. I figured the biggest issue would be that I'll be off the 5 and that 539 is just a little slower with stop lights, etc. I doesn't really seem like back tracking.Re: Lynden/Aldergrove Border Crossing Tom/Barb wrote: dtoste77 wrote: Anyone have any experience with this crossing? We're going to Vancouver next month and considering it as an alternative to the Pacific Truck Crossing. I hear it's wider and has better wait times. We'd then take it to 1 and head over to Capilano where we're staying. We're in a 32' Class A with toad. We're coming up from CA on the 5. Thanks! Do Sumas Can you elaborate as to why? Because it is a traffic nightmare. bad road and it's full of ill-tempered commuters. Thanks for the heads up! I've read that the border crossing is also tight. Any recommendations. Are there some crossings better than others?Re: Bay Area to Vancouver B.C. Rainier wrote: If you want quick go 5 north. I agree take 205 around Portland. I disagree about taking 405 north around Seattle. 405,North, imho is worse than I-5 north due to all the east side traffic (Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, 520, etc. 97 through Bend is way more beautiful a drive. Consider the extra time for the scenery. Worth it! How much extra time do you think it would run? Is it also an easy road to travel?Re: Bay Area to Vancouver B.C. romore wrote: X2 Do yourself a favor and take I-205 around Portland and I-405 through Seattle especially during peak periods. When you approach the border take exit 276 to the truck crossing then north to highway 1. There are several campgrounds in the area, we like Dogwood in Surrey. It is relatively easy to get in and out of, reasonably priced and quiet. Don't even consider 99 into Vancouver with your rig. Out of curiosity, why do you recommend no on 99? As of now we were looking at 15 to 1 and we're going to stay at the capalino rv resort. I've heard the spots are a little tighter but the location is great. We prefer location..
