Definitely call her to answer any questions!Re: Driver's License DillemaI guess you'd better listen to these folks with lots more experience than I have. AZ is pretty strict - giving you only 15 days to register vehicles. Here in NY , we have 6 mos.to do so. Hope you haven't been confused by the info I shared. SD definitely allows NON-residents to register an rv in SD. You just must put your actual, honest state of residence as the registration address. We hope someday to be fulltimers (nomads) like you were, but for now we'll be in NY part of the year and Florida & Idaho the rest of the time. Enjoy life's journey!!Re: Driver's License DillemaHi Don & Eileen, wanted to throw our 2 cents into this. After a great deal of research, we found that it is perfectly legal to keep your rv/motorhome registered in SD. See the link: http://dor.sd.gov/Motor_Vehicles/Non_Resident_Information/PDFs/Memo%20to%20CT%20on%20non_residence.pdf However, if your rv spends more than 6 months in my home state of NY, the NYDMV requires that it be registered in NY. It would seem that your motorhome won't be spending that long in Utah or anywhere else, so you'd be fine.Re: Disconnect batteries? The auto leveling system has its own little battery, and it also acts as a battery meter. It read 13.4v. Is that fully charged?Re: Disconnect batteries?Just was on the phone with Highland Ridge - the battery disconnect lever does indeed disconnect everything. However, he said if others on the forums say to disconnect negative cables, then do that, and forget about the batteries til spring. So I think that is solved. Thanks again for all of your insights on batteries - we really value it!Re: Disconnect batteries?Thank you for that clarification, Sam Spade! In the morning, I'm calling the manufacturer and finding out 'straight from the horse's mouth' what exactly the battery disconnect lever disconnects! If there still is a parasitic draw, then we'll know what to do now, thanks to everyone's advice. If we end up leaving the batteries there & do need to disconnect the negative cables, we will be stopping by monthly anyway to check the water levels in the batteries. Thanks again!Re: Disconnect batteries?PS We have an Open Range 3x 5th wheel.Re: Disconnect batteries?Okay, well now you've got me totally confused. Trackig, you said there are TWO sets of batteries - and several cables. We have only 2 batteries, in the front generator compartment - the negative side on each has 2 cables running from them. That's it. There's no other battery that we have found on the RV. I know that to you it sounds simple...but to a couple who know nothing about electricity or batteries - other than how to jump start car batteries - what you just outlined sounds daunting. Ours is an Open Range 3x, 42'6" long. With a battery disconnect lever. Anyone know if there are some other batteries somewhere we don't know about??Re: Disconnect batteries? We are not connected to shore power while in storage, which is why we're concerned about how to handle the batteries during cold winter months. Since we have the battery disconnect lever, I think we're good.Re: Disconnect batteries?Thank you - tomorrow morning I'll be heading over to the site to look for converter/inverter, among other things. Thanks for the direction.
