The cracking blocks were the infamous #53 casting in which there was some failures but it was not every block and there was some warranty offered. The biggest question here seems to be whether or not you can live with a reduced speed going up and down grades with a vehicle bigger than a Honda Civic. Read through some of the posts with the HP vs Weight discussions and you will quickly realize 2000 hp in a 40,000 lb motorhome is way under powered because BillyBob could not pass a Maserati on I70 going up the grade to the tunnel. Tinkerer sorry you had one of the bad ones but $19k is not going to cover the bill if your kitty has a hemorrhage, they have had issues too! If a man made it, it will break.Re: Exhaust brake serviceSo what is the downside to turning it on and leaving it on? The unit works continuously preventing sticking, the unit works all the time reducing brake wear, the unit allows the driver more control by the throttle, the operator is more aware of what is happening with his vehicle? There are thousands of posts pertaining to this on the TDR, DTR, Cummins Forums, Ram Chat. Unless it becomes extremely slippery their is no good reason not to have the unit operating and unlike a "Jake Brake" on a big truck it WON'T kill your engine stopping the wheels completely. OEM vehicle manuals are generic information does not make them 100% correct for all situations.Re: Anyone had their rig weighed by authorities in these areas?06Fargo you are an Alberta registered RV which is not a "commercial vehicle" you will not be required to enter any commercial vehicle inspection stations anywhere in Canada or the US. Last time BC played this stupid game the ministry of transport got their peepee's slapped hard. The weight police here will extrapolate hoards of legal horse pucky's, ignore the info except common sense. Occasionally there was RV inspections in Alberta at the beginning of the season to not enforce but inform RV'ers of issues with the units which was a volunteer day by LEO's, propane vendors, tire vendors etc. Listen to Dog Trainer & Wadcutter they are the real experience of LEO information. The most important piece of advice that gets avoided here is pay attention to your driving and learn how to read signs and maps even if you have GPS because both have discrepancies. The driver gets to be a relaxed tourist and vacationer once they are stopped for the day.Re: Do you flash people? So this whole light flashing/blinking deal started many moons ago when big trucks had a lot less power and the average road was 2 lanes not 4. If and when a bigrig could pass it was advantageous for the driver to know exactly when to move back into the proper lane usually due to possible oncoming traffic. Dipping the headlights was "clear to come back" and blinking the clearance lights was thanks for the break. Doesn't he know how long his rig is usually but at night or in the rain or snow it can be iffy. Also we are in such a hurry anymore to return to the right lane we don't give a good distance to move back over properly. Generally if you don't mover over right away some wonderful jerk cuts to the right beside you to pass on your blind side. Now we flash our high beams blinding the driver ahead because the OEM flasher designed for European passing is used instead of dipping the lights. Also having daytime running lights complicates things with the high beams on at reduced amperage on a lot of vehicles to accomplish this. Personally when RVing I prefer they just pay attention to the road and I will choose when to pull back in on multi-lane roads.Re: 2 speed transfer caseOn the GM's you need the 2 speed transfer case to get the neutral position availability to tow your Toad.Re: B.C. Parks fee increaseSomebody gets paid to do what no one else does like clean up and remove garbage or maybe maintain roads and lay down gravel. The fees would be covering all PPC facilities and would have some for uniform price structure. I know around Kelowna and area in the summer you can't camp anywhere for $30 dollars no matter the condition of the campground.Re: Leaving seat while drivingI would think the possibility of becoming a 150-300lbs missile in the case of an emergency stop might get a person to reconsider what they should be doing. Most newer motorhomes have big beautiful clear ejection ports on the front of the units. Witnessed this in some really neat bus collisions as an investigator but hey I am like 95% of the world out there, "won't happen to me".Re: B.C. Parks fee increaseSeems like a sad story but in reality the cost of camping at private campgrounds is usually a lot more than the PPC in BC.Re: CB use in CanadaYou can't pick up radio signals without transmitting, the province of Ontario does not regulate radio usage it is enforced by Industry Canada a federal department. That ticket should have been taken to court and embarrassed the all knowing officer, would have been dismissed. OPP do not have frequency testing equipment to begin with not their jurisdiction. CB's in Canada have not been regulated for many years but are limited to 5 watts output.
