There are some nice short floorplans but all have slides (which in my opinion makes them more desirable, not less...)Re: 5 figure 30 footAs my pondering continues, it does seem like a used Fleetwood Flair or Winnie Vista might be our choice. The biggest concern I have at this point is cargo. I'm wondering if I can mitigate that by keeping some of the bulky and weighty item in a car I can tow, eg golf clubs, tools, maybe a bike rack on the car. I am trying to apply what I know about the fifthwheels we had to motorhomes an I don't know what I don't know here. What, if any, are factors unique to Class A that I should be thinking about?Re: DRW vs SRWI pulled big FW with a single axle truck and never had an issue. In my case I was right up to the rated limit of the tires, which did concern me a bit. I was meticulous about keeping the tires at proper pressure. When I had the FW I kind of wished I had a dually. Now that I no longer have the FW, but still have the truck, I'm glad it is a single.Re: Disney world in JulyFort Wilderness is the best deal of all the Disney on-property accommodations. Still, it is expensive. It is convenient since you can use Disney transport direct from the campground. However at peak times (eg after the fireworks finish) it can take a while to get a boat to a bus to your site. I always find Disney service second to none, but then you are paying top dollar. Just outside the parks near Celebration is a campground called Tropical Palms. We spent several winters there and liked it a lot. For that you would need a vehicle to get into the parks (and pay to park it).Re: 5 figure 30 foot Racklefratz wrote: davelinde wrote: I'm wondering what I could assume for depreciation and cost of re-sale. When I buy an RV, I know it will depreciate, and do so much more quickly than most other vehicles. I think you missed my point. We are looking to buy 3 years out. I know what those rigs cost now, new. I am trying to guestimate what they will cost for me to buy in 3 year, used. To be honest I see the retail re-sale prices of used rigs mapping to a "depreciation" from the new list price. But in addition to knowing that new rigs depreciate... I also know that new rigs should not be purchased at list price.Re: Maximum length rig considerations T18skyguy wrote: Consider what you want in the interior, cause that also affects length. I have to have a couch, cause I hate sitting at the dinette. I found many more had a couch Surprisingly I've found floorplans with either a couch or recliners and a king bed in the under 30 category. What I'm struggling to accept is GVWR that leave very little cargo capacity as well as very little room for cargo in general. Moving from 30' to 33' seems to matter a bit.Re: !I could not get data after 2014 but the rate of family formation is dropping... I did not look for data but I am thinking the rate of early retirement and/or retirement into a stable financial situation is dropping. On top of that I will guess that the number of families that want to RV as a family and the number of retirees who want to RV could be dropping. The combo of a smaller target demographic (families and retired) along with a smaller rate of interest in RV lead to the decline in sales. Just my guessRe: Maximum length rig considerationsTo clarify my issue here. The 30' number is out there and DW is attached to it. We are not looking to get another triple axle rig - we had one. However if we make a hard limit at 30' it takes DP MH off the table, which is fine. But I'm struggling to find a short gas rig with the ability to carry much and that's not fine. If expanding our criteria to 35' won't lock us out of a lot of places I'll make the case to DW...Re: Maximum length rig considerationsAs I keep collecting info on this I'm finding that rigs designated <30', eg a "29M" are longer, eg 31' bumper to bumper on a motorhome. Keeping ourselves under 30' eliminates the possibility of any diesel pushers for consideration an also limits the number of gas motorhome floorplans. I was convinced that access to some parks might be worth adhering to a 30 hard limit in our search for the next RV... but if the limit is really a hard limit that does cut out a lot of options and I'm rethinking it. So no... we have no interesting in going off road. We'd just hate to get somewhere and find that the lower cost and/or attractive parks could not accommodate us.Re: Here is something for you Class A people to upgrade tohmmm... I wonder what kind of payments they could work out for me? Nothing down and zero interest maybe?
