Space under slide to add plywood to floor
Is there an industry standard as to how much room is under the side room (between the floor and slide room) ? I found a soft spot on the main trailer floor, I fix the leak but would like to stiffen up the floor. Thinking plywood. We went that small because of towing capacity (92 Chevy Conversion Van which struggled on every hill). I originally had my eye on something 2 feet bigger which in hindsight would have served us longer but was 500 lbs heavier so had to pass. 13 seasons later we have a 28 ft rig (our third). You may not be able to plan 10 years out for your needs but look at the next 5. Age and size of the kids, any pets going. Think it through, RV are always "on sale" somewhere. Don't shy away from used if the price is right. We've had one ordered from the factory (1st HTT) one used off the lot and one new off the lot. On getting used, my advice is this, if you smell mildew or mold when you walk in then walk away. And the sales person is not your friend, he/she is focused on earning a commission check to put food on their table. Our TT has double steps but is still high off the ground. I want to swap it out for triple steps however the mounting distance (side to side) on the current steps is 24¼” and all the triple steps I have found are 27+” mounts even though the steps are 24” Has anyone found the proper size steps to swap out, if so can you pass along the info? I’m not fond of the platforms since most of the time they don’t sit as secure and would rather swap out the steps.1.1KViews0likes5Comments
