I also painted the factory vent camper that was already on the camper. So if I want pitch black I just have to close the vent.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012Krylon for plastic.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012 locknload223 wrote: Good idea painting the inside. Let us know how much darker it is inside after you install it. I'm installing two this week. Installed today in the 100 degree wheater. Thank god it only took me about 30 minutes to intall both vent covers. There is a night and day difference with the painted vs factory cover. Still lets in some light but no were near the 2nd cover.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012Good tint will peel off fairly easy and they make an adhesive remover to wipe off what adhesive is left behind. As far as the difference in 20% and 5%, there is alot more light let in at 20 and you can see through 20 during the day. Using 5% you will have to press your face to the window to see in during the day. My car has two different % tints on it. Front windows are 20% and rear are 5%. This picture shows the difference in the two. Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012 Rob8484 wrote: So how hard was it to tint the windows? Any tips or advice?? This has been on my "to do list" and want to get it done soon! Its definately a test of patience. I cut mine slightly larger then the window. Applied soapy water to the window and tint. Then put it on the window and squeeged from the center out. Then you can trim it with a razor blade.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012Got my Maxxair II vent covers ready for install today. I painted the inside of one black since it goes directly over our queen bed. The tinted windows made it much cooler and nicer camping this weekend. one on top of box is the painted one. Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012 Pitapony wrote: It only lets 5% of the light in??? Doesn't that make it like a cave in there? I like lots of light in ours. Then don't tint your windows. LOL. This will really help getting our kid to bed when its still light out, getting her to take naps in the afternoon, and keep everyone in bed a bit longer in the morning. I also have 2 Maxxair vent covers due her tomorrow. They had a deal on 2 white ones on ebay so thats what I bought. One vent is in the bathroom so I will leave that one white. Second one is over the queen bed and I HATE it! Love the fresh air it allows in but the light makes me feel like I'm trying to sleep with a light on. I like the look of the white covers from the outside so my plan is to spray paint the inside of the vent cover black using spray paint for plastic. Will allow all the fresh air, look white from the outside, and block the light out over our bed. Will post pics when I get them painted and installed.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012You can get 2.5% at walmart. The 5% made it a lot nicer in there this morning. Should really help keep it cool in there as well. The tint I used is almost mirrored effect when you stand a few feet back and look at it with no lights on in the trailer.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012Only let's in 5%. There is only one tint darker. You have to press your face to the window to barely see in.
