Never had even close to a problem with low batteries but we do have a propane generator. It usually gets run only for the microwave but a couple of times I have run it to boost the batteries back up. I agree if you have no generator you could risk running low after several days depending on how much other electrical load you use. The 2015 models will have the elec/propane frig.Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide)As the owner of a Free Spirit SS I can state that you cannot carry more than the two front passengers while driving legally. Certainly people could ride on the sofa but they would be unbelted and amount to untethered cargo in an accident. With the bed made there would only be barely room for one in the aisle and they would be at risk of being stepped on by anyone headed to the bath. Class B compromises. Less seating means bigger bath, storage, etc. More seating means less. But I can state that our SS is absolutely fabulous for the two of us.Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide) Fastpaddler wrote: I just watched a video on the 22ft 9inch Free Spirit SS. My one concern is the small space around the head of the bed by the door(6 inches or so?). Is this a problem to negotiate at night when one is on the other side of the bed away from just hopping out for a bathroom break? Otherwise, it is impressive use of a compact vehicle including length, AL Being the male, I, of course, was relegated the side of the bed away from the bathroom. I do not have a problem getting up and going around the bed. Just need to go slow. You can't just walk around. You have to move sideways but there is enough room to do so easily as there is 16" between bed and door. Besides, it is, I think, actually easier than the typical rear bed in a Class B. I have not slept in one but I always imagined getting out of bed entailed a bit of a struggle getting out of the covers and scooting to the end of the bed over partners legs(almost) to get up since neither can get out from the side. We are convinced this floor plan is far roomier, both in real dimensions and perceived, than the usual floor plans.Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide) tom307 wrote: TLWNF & cascadetrekker: How useful/effective do you find the screen on the SS? Do you use it much? Does it keep mosquitoes out? Thanks! We use the screen any time the sliding door is open. With the screen we can leave the door open. Without we would have to leave it shut. It makes a huge difference in the feel for roominess. So far we have not gotten any bugs or mosquitoes so it seems very effective. It is constructed such that there is a full metal frame making contact entirely around the screen. There aren't any spots where there is fabric just hanging loose. Just need to open and close slowly so you don't pull it off its track, which is easy to fix if you do.Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide) hrow wrote: Thanks for the info, it is much appreciated. Is there any storage under the bed? Sorry, forget to mention the under sofa storage. There is drawer under the sofa that is the length of the sofa and a little over 2' feet back. The drawer is about 6" deep, i think. It stores the larger table and the leg. Also, the slideout locking rods are in there. We don't use the locking rods and another person I know took out the large table and just uses the small table. The small table works good enough for most uses unless you have a larger meal you want room to set up for. A trade-off. So what I am getting at is you could get by without the stuff in the drawer and use it for some bedding. Another area that can be used is the cab area. While parked lots of stuff can go there including the bedding during the daytime. Then on the road, the bedding could just go on the couch. Other things you haul can be done the same way. Also, we use the shower to store stuff and just remove it while showering then but it back. It is a Class B but you will find there is way more room than you can imagine. And with the slide out, there is so much more open, truly usable floor space.Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide) hrow wrote: I have yet to see a Free Spirit SS in person so I am hoping someone will be kind enough to answer two questions... 1. Are you able to store bedding under the bed during the day or must you use another space? 2. A good sized refrigerator is much more important to me than the size of the microwave. It seems that one should be able to remove the microwave to make room for a larger frig and find a home for compact countertop sized microwave in one of the larger cabinets (should fit if the cabinets are 15" deep as the videos say). Is this a realistic thought? We own a Free Spirit SS. There are several options for stowing bedding. Currently the pillows and sheets go in cabinets because we travel light. We have a very heavy king size quilt we use as it keeps all the bedding in place while sleeping. We just roll it up and store it on top of the back of the sofa. Pillows could actually go there as well. As far as the fridge, one thing that might help you to know is that the 2014 SS's in production have a fridge that is one cubic foot larger than the original one like we have. It is plenty big enough for us so I think the bigger one would suit you. I really don't think a microwave would fit in any of the cabinets very well.Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide) bobcat66 wrote: The O-Grill 1000 might just fit in the rear storage area. The grill is 8 1/2" high when folded down and may stand up in the right side of the rear storage space. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/o-grill/48961 A couple of Free Spirit SS dimensions that people asked about I did some measuring of a couple of areas. The big area in the back storage would hold that O-Grill. The area is 9" deep by 26" high by 24" wide. There is one vent pipe that intrudes into the space at the top. Some have had questions on the distance between the end of the bed and the door. It is 16". The width of the area with that distance is 44". On either end of that distance you then run into the screen door frame and then lose about six inches. Having now dry camped in the Free Sprit I can say it exceeds my expectations. Everything worked flawlessly. What a joy to drive and camp in. Stays warm at night. 40 degrees outside and heater only came on a few times all night. Bed is comfy and plenty big enough for two. Did not feel confined whatsoever. Shower was wonderful. Since dry camping we used the water on and off method to preserve water but if hooked to water and sewer you could just let it run all you want. I have found forums to be so useful and appreciate people providing info, etc. so I want to do my share so if you have questions about the coach I will be glad to answer them.Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide)Hey, everybody. We picked up our Free Spirit SS a month ago. Less than 400 miles on it so far and no camping! Just to busy. Next two weekends have trips planned though. I have been able to go through everything pretty while it is parked in its shop. 12' x 36' built just for it. I am spoiled. Everything works great and I am very impressed with the quality, fit and finish. Only a couple of minor issues that the dealer had spotted before we picked it up and is working with factory on, such as the spare tire carrier drops too low to be level to use as a table. Answers to questions on the sofa/bed. There is about six-eight inches of room between the end of the bed and the sliding door. You can slide around it OK but just need to move slow. The power sofa works good but I would say not essential since it is a light sofa and easy to access. But still, just the same, is kind of nice to just hit a switch. It is plenty wide enough for two people. So far I see the back storage as a place where all the hardware, hoses, tools, etc will go plus our inflatable boat, oars and small folding chairs. Not big enough for even a small gas grill so that will have to travel in the shower and get swapped out with the front seat area when parked. The bath is so wonderful and we haven't even used it yet!. One of the things that sold us on this unit was the dealer, and particularly the salesman, we were lucky enough to connect with. They are only 180 miles from us which in Montana is good. Chad at Creston RV is wonderful. He is the best salesman I have met in my life when it comes to putting you at ease and making you feel comfortable with a purchase. He is half the reason we bought this year. He has bought us two nights camping near the dealership Memorial Day weekend and he is going to help us set up for our third, yes third walk through with him, and then will return each morning to go over any questions. What service! I will provide a report in a few weeks after we have some nights both dry camping and in an RV park. Later, folks.Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide)After almost four years of shopping and dreaming, and being certain we were going to purchase a Pleasure Way Plateau, we are now going to take delivery of a LTV Free Spirit SS this Saturday. We decided the bed will work just fine but were sold on the open area in the middle at the sliding door and the full, dry bathroom. It is on a 2013 Sprinter and has the power sofa option, just now available. We were going to take advantage of the dealer's free two day camping and learning weekend at a local RV park but the forecast is for freezing weather so that will be done in a few weeks. So once we get some time in it will be able to provide reports to anyone interested. We are so excited!Re: Leisure Free Spirit SS (Single Slide)cascadetrekker: We have decided to buy an SS and started discussing price with our nearest dealer yesterday. MSRP is $125,000. There first offer was $112,500 with a comment to make an offer. I am not worried about getting the price down every little nickel and we don't mind paying a fair price to both sides. I was wondering if you would be willing to tell me how much you paid or perhaps, at least a range you think we should land in that would be fair. Would $105,000 be reasonable or way too high? We want to buy from this dealer as they are less than 200 miles from us. We had been planning on a Pleasure Plateau for about three years and then when the SS came along it changed our mind. You sound happy with yours and I see Leisure Travel has joined Pleasureway in the DSI Quality Circle Awards which is encouraging. But I ramble. Thanks in advance if you feel you can help. You can send me a private message if you want.
