I have heat into the basement/garage area, and that’s probably where he gained entrance. I’ve seen evidence of mice in that area before, but never thought about them going thru the ductwork.Feels like I hit the JackpotYesterday afternoon I started on a little project that was a carryover from last fall. The backstory is that last fall while I was camping at my property in the UP of Michigan, the furnace quit on me. It didn’t just quit, it woke me up at 4 am making a clatter that sounded like playing cards in bicycle spokes…only 10 times louder. With limited tools I got the outside panel off and found that the fan would barely move. So, I toughed it out until we came home and put the 5er into storage for the winter. I pulled it out last weekend and decided to check the situation a little closer with tools being at my disposal. Much to my surprise when I removed the outside panel, I could easily spin the fan. Of course I couldn’t hardly see into the fan or reach my fingers in there, but something felt odd. I shined a Mag Light into the fan and spun it from the other side, and mercy, I found the problem. A mouse had gotten into the fan and caused it to lock up. So, having deteriorated and shrunk in size over the winter, the fan turned freely now. A few minutes with long needle nosed pliers got it out, and now the furnace works perfectly again. So I felt like I hit the Jackpot by avoiding what could have been a pain in the butt repair.Re: The used RV market is getting nuts... time2roll wrote: S Davis wrote: I took my truck into the dealer for a few issues before it turns 36,000 miles and they offered me $15,000 more than I paid in late 2019. That seems great until you find out you pay sticker on a new one and nothing you want is even available. Yeah, last weekend I was fueling my 08 Chevy, and the guy next to me at the diesel island asked me what year my truck was and how many miles. He then offered me $35K on the spot. That’s 5 grand more than I paid for it in Jan 2009. Of course I declined, but holy cow.Re: After market exhaust brake reliability and effectivenessI’ve had the BD Diesel turbo brake system for quite a few years. Mine has 4 total settings...Off, Low, med, and hi. I hardly ever use anything but low and I would definitely buy again. It’s my understanding that now there are only 2 on settings on more recent units.Re: Using camper transport service?I agree with the idea of checking with an RV transport company. When I bought my gooseneck from Salem Wisconcon, I had a transport company back haul the gooseneck to Elkhart Indiana for me. The cost was $250. I couldn’t drive from my location out there and back for that. I just ran to Elkhart when the trailer was delivered to the transport company yard and got it.Re: A new gas engine for GM heavy duty trucks is comingSo a new 6.6 litre is coming!! It reminds me of the old 400 small block. 4.125 bore and 3.75 stroke. I ran one for years and years. It was exceptionally easy to wake those up and get some great hp and torque.Re: Why Would Anyone Choose Above Bed Fifth Wheel Rails?I have been using the in bed rails for close to 25 years now. Started with a gooseneck hitch and later added the fifth wheel hitch. I’ve swapped the rails now between 3 different trucks. Just bought new bolts. On the rare occasion that I need a flat surface, I have a sheet of one inch plywood with cutouts. Works fine for me.Re: Trailer brake malfunctionI too love the P3 for how it works in my primary truck. However I also have an old Reese time based unit that’s probably very similar to the Curt that I have installed in my old truck. As mentioned above, there are typically 2 controls on these unit. The power setting and the gain setting. My Reese works very well and I can’t justify replacing it with the P3. Youjust have to have both of the settings adjusted properly.Re: Considering adding air bags to my truckOn a previous truck I ran the 5000 lb AirLifts. I was very happy with them. On my current truck, I have the Hellwig 5000 lb bags. I haul other trailers besdies my 5er, but run 20 lb when the 5er is on. My 5er is also only a 10k unit, but the 20 lb in the bags restores the suspension height to pre loaded level, which makes for a much more comfortable ride whe hauling the 5er on rougher roads due to having full suspension travel. YMMVRe: Ford F150 recallWell, I can tell you that the F-150 door latch issue is a real safety issue. My current work truck is one of the effected ones. It was already off warranty when it started and could not be figured out at the dealer (reproduce the symptom). Nothing like having the drivers door open on it’s own while driving down the road to get your attention. Other times it simply wouldn’t latch at all. And now the rear suicide door on drivers side won’t latch properly at times. I just recently got the recall notice, and will be notified again when replacement parts are available. I’m hoping soon.
