Heartland Bighorn & Big Country and Keystone Montana are extremely popular and see more of them on the road than any other so that must say something positive. I will say given you plan to full-time that floor plan is king aside from the overall condition & features. Probably preaching to the choir, but Your preferences, your life style, your quality of life standards, where do you want to go and of course your budget/savings can only be answered by you. I can't top "n7bsn" comments. Well said. I think you are taking a sound and very logical approach. Keep at it and believe you'll find your dream rig at the end of the rainbow. Some RVs depreciate far faster than others. The worst you can do is finance or take out a second mortgage on a new rig. Recommend searching on full-timing blogs (even Youtube) and find those with brands/models and similar life styles that conspire with your goals. Note that some of the used especially the high end brands that were previously full-timed can be heavily customized to the previous owner; especially if outfitted with solar, battery setup, water filtration, AC units, generator, residential fridge, etc., so be extra vigilant during (electrical) inspection time and ask alot of questions. I've only had 3 minor issues with my current fiver (in sig). I plan to full-time once retired and if that were tomorrow or next year I'd be seriously considering a new DRV, Excel, or New Horizon, then the Dually or HDT truck, pay cash for both and hopefully and finally live (debt) free. Still working on a exit strategy just in case.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics here 07PSDCREW wrote: Blackcell wrote: beermanjoe wrote: 07PSDCREW you must like buying tires? X2. Please tell me you're not wearing Toyo's! 35x12.5x20 Toyo Open Country....why? My last two sets were Goodyear Wrangler AT/2 in 275/65/20. Those were nice too. I loved the open country's and that's what's going on next. No, no, I been a big fan of Toyo's since 2006. It's just they're definitely not a cheap tire and I try to get as many miles out of them as possible.Re: The NEW CarriageThe CrossRoads units at first seem quite nice..... until you take a closer look and discover that it's on a Lippert Frame (I-beam frame), sub-standard welding, cheap floor structure, bad cabinet construction, no back end cap, etc, etc. Basically slapped a BMW logo on a prius. THOR did buy the rights to the Carriage brand name and logo/trademarks so I guess the marketing dept are free to deceive all they want. The closest brand you can get to a real improved Carriage is Lifestyle.Re: How do you wax the front cap of your Fifth Wheel?I do the same as most others with a tall step ladder. For the very top where the gel-coat meets the rubber roof I get up on the roof. I guess if you're looking for an easier way then one option is to hire a pro detailer but it'll cost you.Re: Gel coat careI got the same results when I did mine last summer using Meguiar's 3-step product. Went through several pads but at $28 you can't beat the price and it really works.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics here beermanjoe wrote: 07PSDCREW you must like buying tires? X2. A CC LB does not fit in a single spot at home depot, never mind a place like a shopping center or supermarket. This is why I usually take up two spaces but rarely park up front. I often park way out in left field. I need the walking exercise anyhow ;) Nice lookin rig! Heated rear seats?! That must be new for 2015.Re: Recommended route from Portland, OR to Glacier NP?padredw, Thanks very much for sharing! I was skeptical on MT 135 so thanks for that info. I was just reviewing Mountain Meadows RV Park and looks real nice.Re: Recommended route from Portland, OR to Glacier NP?Thanks all for the advice. 'Army11Bravo', thank you much. I'm going to seriously consider your recommendation. Wow, what a spectacular view from that CG! Agree, I want to cut down on the driving time. Camping on both sides makes alot of sense.Recommended route from Portland, OR to Glacier NP?Planning a trip to Glacier this summer and was curious on any recommended routes. Thinking of going I-84/I-82/I-90 then get off at US-93 and head up to Hwy-2. I'm still debating if I want to camp on west side or within NP or east side of Glacier. I'm assuming its no issue taking Hwy-2 east with a 36' fiver that time of year? (I've driven 14% grades in Utah) Trying to find best home base to hit both west/east sides without having to hitch and move again. I'm a semi-pro photographer and plan on spending 1 full week touring/hiking around Glacier. Appreciate any recommendations/advice.
