It didn't make a difference. So, I went to Harbor Freight and bought their 2000/4000 watt inverter, came home and hooked it up exactly the same way as the other one. AND IT WORKED! PERFECTLY! I can even run my microwave! The other inverter is going back to Amazon tomorrow. So it wasn't anything in the way I was connecting everything, it was just that inverter. Thanks everyone for your helpful input. I have certainly learned a lot about inverters in the past few days.Re: INVERTER - help John & Angela wrote: Howdy again. Just want to be sure I understand. With ALL the breakers off the inverter is still loading down as soon as you plug the shore cord in. Slightly off topic, how many batteries do you have. Yes - all the breakers are off, including the main breaker. And it is alarming and shutting down. I have two 6V batteries wired in series. In the wintertime, when the weather is cool enough that I don't need to run the AC, I like to dry camp. I have a 100W solar panel which keeps my batteries well-charged, and I am able to run the fridge on propane, heat on propane, and stove on propane. I have replaced all my lights with LED's so they draw almost no power. But, it would be nice to be able to plug in a crockpot, small coffee pot, etc., which is why I am trying the inverter.Re: INVERTER - help ewarnerusa wrote: Some inverters don't work. I'm not savvy enough to know why. The first inverter I bought was a Samlex MSW 800 watt and it acted the same as you describe. I later saw in the manual where it said to not use it to supply an ac panel. I suppose that is what I was essentially doing. Every other inverter I have owned has worked fine like this though. Edit: I found my old thread asking about why it wasn't working. There might be some useful knowledge in there. It's funny reading my old comprehension level about this stuff and it was only a couple years ago! http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25837086.cfm I read through your old thread - WOW - my problem is EXACTLY the same as yours was. I'll try a couple things tomorrow, and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to try a completely different inverter.Re: INVERTER - help John & Angela wrote: Did you remember to change your fridge to propane. Thats about 4 amps. How about the water heater electric element. Theres another 11 amps. Those two together would drag down a battery to the alarm voltage quick and probably kill the battery in about 20 minutes. The fridge and water heater were both off. I even turned all the breakers off. So there should not have been anything pulling any power out of the battery. I'm really stumped.Re: INVERTER - helpI tried this and it didn't work - what am I doing wrong? I bought a 1600 watt Whistler inverter, connected it to my battery, turned off the breaker to my converter, plugged shoreline power cord (30A) into an adapter, then plugged it into the outlet in the inverter, turned the inverter on, and within 2 seconds the inverter was alarming and shut itself off. Nothing in the camper is turned on, and I even tried it with all the breakers off. Same thing - alarm, then off. I plugged a crockpot into the inverter, and it worked fine, so I know the inverter is functioning. Any ideas?Re: My LEDs SDurbak wrote: I will take some pictures later on tonight when it gets dark. I'll post those later. I still have 4 or 5 more bulbs coming from China which won't be here yet for awhile, but so far, I'm happy with the 2 in the top pictures. Well, my pictures didn't really turn out to be very helpful. What I see in the pictures is not what I see in person, so they aren't worth posting. What I have concluded so far is that of the first 2 bulbs in my previous post, the bulb-type seems to put out more of a "glow" as compared to the flat type, which appears to be 16 separate points of light.Re: My LEDsI got these two bulbs today The top one is 24-5050 (360 lumens) and shines 360 degrees, $9.99. The bottom one is 16-5050 (240 lumens) and shines down, $11.99. I placed one bulb in each side of a double fixture, and they appear to have nearly the same amount of light output. Compared to my original 921 bulb, they are about the same, possibly slightly more light output, and less yellow than the 921. I wouldn't really call the light "blue", just really more white. The bulb-type one in the top picture has the advantage of 1) being cheaper, and 2) not having to worry about keeping it stuck to the ceiling of the fixture. I also got some of these from ebay (10 for $12.89) but they didn't fit into my fixture. I dremeled one down until it fit, then lit it up for comparison. It was much less bright, and very green. I will not be using these. I will take some pictures later on tonight when it gets dark. I'll post those later. Just got my first TT 2 weeks ago, and am still learning about it all. Hmmm. Heat sink design. I like the idea. Price seems reasonable with that in mind. I paid more for my first panels... "back in the day" (way back 2 years ago or whatever it was. :) ) It has 5050 SMD LEDs. Should be plenty bright. 16 LEDs * 15L ea = 240 Lumens. That's about equal to one of my 1141 incandescent bulbs; medium bright, but focused toward the room. I have buck regulated bulbs and I don't notice any RFI over AM channels. I believe it is more a problem for Ham guys than it is the rest of us. I say be our guinea pig; give one a try and report back! Be sure to check for RFI. I ordered one of these with the heat sink today. Also ordered 5 different ones from eBay seller 2011_led who has been very popular in this thread. When they arrive, I will do a comparison and post the results.Re: My LEDsHas anyone tried these from M4Products.com? http://www.m4products.com/double-aluminum-plate-in-warm-white-10-30v/ I have just read all 28 pages of this thread to learn as much as I can from everyone else's experience before converting my 921's to LED's.
