All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: thor vegas 25.6I understand the cons of Thor's RUV vehicles. However, this is a unique concept and for some justifies some tradeoffs. There are some pluses to your decision: - 8k hitch rating - outstanding wheelbase/length ratio - 25.6 is the only floor plan they offer on the E450 - Heavy propane/plumbed appliances not in the slideout - Unlike F53s, E- Series Fords can be converted to 4WDRe: SOLVED: Location of Starter Solenoid Switch: 2006 F53Thanks everyone for the advice. I was able to determine that somewhere between 2004 and 2006 they got rid of the traditional starter solenoid switch and replaced it with a starter motor relay. It is in a relay compartment on the exterior firewall. I was just looking for the wrong thing that would have large cable going to it. SOLVED: Location of Starter Solenoid Switch: 2006 F53I was debugging an intermittent no crank problem and wanted to have a look at the Starter Solenoid Switch. Parts.ford.com says I have one but does not suggest a location. For various year F53s, some say passenger wheel well, radiator area, etc, but I don't see it. Following the positive battery lead or the starter positive lead is difficult and not helping. Does anyone have a location suggestion for the 2006 f53? I generally like shop manuals and I assume they would suggest where it is located, however, prices for this one range from $700 - $1000 (amazon, eBay). Does anyone use the Chilton DIY service? Not sure if they would show such a thing but they are more reasonable. http://repair.chiltondiy.com/Pub/DIY/Product.aspx?ca=Repair&b=118403 thanks very much for any ideas, fredRe: Is There a 24’ Version of These RVs available? If you want this kind of thing at a lower price point, an approach I have always wanted to do is the 4x4 conversion of a short class C. There is a fellow here in Fletcher NC, Chris, that does conversions for the Ford E series. https://www.ujointoffroad.com/ Depending on how rough you wanted to be off road, you would have to choose the RV carefully for a sturdy build. His YouTube page has a lot of short videos of finished jobs: https://www.youtube.com/user/ujointoffroad/videos Re: Garage floor coating recommendationsAlthough not a garage, I am contracting a slab pour now for a house addition. My contractor said if I were planning to later add a coating or tile the floor, that it is important that they do not use a "Cure and Seal" product during the slab install. These products provide a barrier to help with the hydration but hinder adhesion of other products later. I plan to use the old method of lightly spraying water on the slab and covering with plastic until it has fully cured.Re: Math question for any engineers out hereThis somewhat obvious suggestion may not be an option in your case. Can you rotate the pad 90 degrees to have its length across the slope instead of falling with the slope? This would turn a 72" problem into a 20" problem.Re: Crossroads E-mail addressCORPORATE 1140 W. I am not familiar with the yellow gold coolant and have never used it in other vehicles. My 2006 chassis manual says: • Add Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant (yellow-colored), VC-7–A (U.S., except CA, OR and NM), VC-7–B (CA, OR and NM), meeting Ford Specification WSS-M97B51–A1. Note: Use of Motorcraft Cooling System Stop Leak Pellets, VC-6, may darken the color of Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant from yellow to golden tan. • Do not add/mix an orange-colored, extended life coolant such as Motorcraft Specialty Orange Engine Coolant, VC-2 and VC-3 (US) or CXC-209 (Canada), meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44–D with the factory-filled coolant. Mixing Motorcraft Specialty Orange Engine Coolant or any orange-colored extended life product with your factory filled coolant can result in degraded corrosion protection. Perhaps one of you could help me understand if someone has mixed the yellow and green. If so, I should replace. I can see green on the top of the gold. Re: Tiffin Acquired by Thor for 300mil. dougrainer wrote: ... Tiffin quality has gone down as Bob Tiffin, did not want to expand his work Force after the 2008 melt down. They are pushing out units as fast as they can with their existing work force and will pay the Dealers to fix problems they miss in Red Bay.... Unfortunate this was the case. The modern manufacturing discipline (since W. Edwards Deming) has realized that the primary function of quality control is not to fix the outgoing unit, but to fix the ongoing process. I am continually amazed at the quality and openness to customization that Tiffin had for my 2007 coach. I am not the original owner. I have had several calls over the years with Tiffin technical folks and I have heard subtle references to the "Quality better before 2008" idea.
