All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Caravan RantWe encounter it every year. Some RVers are unsure of their ability to pilot their rigs. Especially the rental crowd. We drive the Icefields Parkway four or five times a year. Lots of rentals there. I think a lot of them are intimidated by the size and seem to think that driving slowly is safer. Lots of time they are driving 40 to 45 MPH and never pull over to let anyone by. I blame the rental companies for improper instruction when the unit is picked up. Every year at least once there are lots of vehicles stopped to see wildlife on the side of the road. Inevitably an rv won't pull over to the side of the road. Last summer not only did they stop in the middle of the road but they all got out with cameras to take pictures. I knew that if I honked my horn I would be flipped off so we waited almost 10 minutes, I counted 21 others behind him. So inconsiderate. Most of us have a couple of horror stories about this type of driver. Too bad we can't do anything about it.Re: traveling miles? how far in 1 dayDepends on where we are going. Yesterday it was only 150 miles to get to our next destination Tomorrow about 350. Last week it was 600 from home to Calgary. No set distance, our destination determines how far we drive. After the long weekend we are going from Fort St John to Whitehorse and we have two weeks to do it so not far each day.Re: Yukon Campgrounds and boondocking sitesPerfect timing Murray. We are going back to the Yukon this summer for the first time since 1980. We are really looking forward to seeing the changes and how some stuff hasn't changed. Hopefully the Airport Chalet still has polar burgers.Re: Johnson's Canyon Campground BanffBummer. I guess we will stay in Banff and drive up. Thanks for the help everyone.Johnson's Canyon Campground BanffWho's been to Johnson's canyon campground? We would like to stay there this summer but the info says max 27 feet We are 37 ft. 5'r. I have been in some provincial sites that said max 25 feet and we fit. Our backend hangs over the end of the campsite but tires are still on the pad. Are the sites that tight there or are there some we might fit into? Would the staff let us try or just say no way? Thanks for any help ChrisRe: Some fun We did this about 10 years ago on this forumJasper Alberta - anytimeRe: Canada NP Fees. I am hoping the posted amount is a typo, and if this is true - then Parks Canada have more that doubled their day fee in the area. Not a typo. $ 9.80 for one person. $ 19.50 for a family in one vehicle. It's been around $19.00 for years now. We have been going since the 70s. The entrance fees are pretty close to the fees for US parks and worth it for the services and scenery that's in the parks.Re: Canada NP Fees. whatimmadoboutmylegs wrote: daveB110 wrote: If you are not stopping to camp,or stay, but merely driving through you won't have to pay. The highways are not toll roads. I'm hoping I got that right, its been awhile. This is true for Highway 16, (Valemount, BC to Hinton, AB via Jasper Park) but not Highway 93 (Banff to Jasper). Yes they aren't toll roads. Usually if you are going through on the Trans Canada highway (highway one) or on the Yellowhead (highway 16) then there is no charge. But anytime you are travelling on the Icefields parkway (highway 93) you are entering the park and that requires the park entry fee. For 2017 those fees are waived.Re: Canada NP Fees. The normal entry fee is $ 19.50 a car per day. If you camp then there are the camping fees on top of that. We buy a yearly pass because we are only 4 hours from Jasper and are through the area at least 6 times a year. For 2017 the entrance fees are waived but you still have to pay for camping. Most of the RV Parks in Banff and Jasper are already booked for the long weekends this year. Might be some cancellations so always good to check. We have just showed up at Jasper on a long weekend and got into an unserviced site.Re: And here I thought I had out run the snow...HAHA lets see you try that with Kitimat snow.
