Dry camping within the park was not available. Yellowstone's Grand Loop has stops approximately every 15 minutes which breaks up the day. In viewing the park in 4 quadrants the following worked for us: 1. West Yellowstone allows access to the (Q1) Norris and (Q2) Old Faithful areas. Grizzly is a great RV Park. West Yellowstone itself and areas west of the park are also within reach. 2. Fishing Bridge provides easy access from (Q3) Yellowstone Lake to (Q4) Lamar Valley. It's a good campground. Not a lot of space, no campfires and the mosquitoes were at least twin engine in size. The link below provides a good picture. http://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/fishingbridgecg.htm Tetons are easily accessed from Colter Bay.Re: What happened to the cell service in Yosemite?Seems the coverage is best near/in Yosemite Village. Data/Internet really only works very early in the morning before the populous awakes and is also best near Yosemite Village. Now that I said that I will see throngs of people standing in the village at 6 am phone in hand scrolling.Re: Opinions on New 5th wheel MandM2711 wrote: Those are the two with the least weight. If I use 20% there is little hope for staying under the gvwr at least on those. Dry hitch is fine. Might need to look at lighter ones to stay under. And to think they are advertised as half ton towable The math is a challenge for most 5th Wheels and 3/4 ton Truck. I looked at both of those models and ended up with the 303. I am a bit over payload, air bags and off camping.Re: Opinions on New 5th wheelFrom a conservative stand point you probably want to estimate pin weight at 20% of gross. Examples: 29RS GVWR = 9,995 lbs Hitch Weight (Dry) = 1,476 lbs 20% of GVWR = 1,999 lbs Rockwood 8289WS GVWR = 9,350 lbs Hitch Weight (dry) 1,524 20% of GVWR = 1870 I suspect that the estimated pin weight is similar across the trailers you listedRe: Allison transmission high oil temp concernsMy Trans temps run 160 to 195 with an Earls Trans Cooler. With the stock Trans Cooler cooler 200 to 230. The change not only lowered my average trans operating temperature I had less spikes in engine temperature.Re: Trip Report: The Perfect Family Trip!Well Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Re: Class A camping at YosemiteCousin Eddie, Roads entering the park East- HWY 120 Tioga Pass, the route from Mono Lake to the Park entrance rises 2500 feet at an 8% grade. West - There are three: HWY 41 out of Fresno, 140 out of Merced (easiest Route), 120 out of Manteca. Coming from AZ (assuming your route) HWY 41 out of Fresno or HWY 120 over Tioga Pass are the best routes by location with Tioga Pass challenging. Crane Flat to Yosemite Village is just over 15 miles with travel time of 30 minutes, not to bad. As others have stated parking could be a challenge, weekends and holidays are the worst from a parking perspective. My observation has been that if you arrive early (7:00 - 8:30 ish) you should find parking at Yosemite Village, large vehicles park to the back. If that falls through parking along the road would be your next option just west of the Village parking lot along North Side Drive or Sentinel Drive, there are a few wide spots. Curry Village parking is typically partially full with people parking randomly just to make things exciting. Get there early and use the valley shuttles, bikes or walk through out the day. I did find a Bus schedule from Crane Flat to Yosemite Village (see below). http://www.yosemitepark.com/Files/Hikers_bus_2015_rev.pdfRe: Yellowstone-Fishing Bridge or Outside ParkFishing Bridge over Dunraven to Lamar would be a nice ride, spent an additional day traveling that road lots to see. 3 nights at Fishing Bridge and 2 at Grizzley in West Yellowstone. I like to break it up East/WestRe: Bad year ahead for Yosemite National ParkEveryday, in all weather, water or not, it is always a good day in Yosemite!Re: Campground and activities between Redwoods and Lake TahoeColoma is a ways from Lake Tahoe off of HWY 50, 1 1/2 hours west of South Lake Tahoe. Its a nice area however a long drive back to Tahoe if that is your destination. If your next destination is west or south that could work. Have you tried the list of campgrounds below all are locations with easy access to all South Lake Tahoe activities. Zephyr Cove - Location is great with direct access to the lake. Good beach, para-sailing, kayaks, etc. Campground by the Lake - Lake access with OK beach, location with easy access to all South Lake Tahoe activities Tahoe Valley Campground - Swimming pool, arcade games, Camp Richardson - Limited RV spots, access to nice beach, boats, kayaks, horse back riding,
