All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Replacing Refrigerator Cooling unitI just replaced my Norcold 1200 lr, with a new amish replacement two weeks ago, and so far it seems to be working just fine, it has been very hot weather here in the northeast almost every day. I also purchased mine thru RV cooling unit ware house. The shipping took just 1 week, but that was due to the 4th of July holiday. I will agree with the other poster, regarding Mr Force. Dave seems to run his business very professionaly, He talked with me for several minutes, when I called him with a question on shipping. He assured me if I had any further questions regarding the transaction or any installation issues to give him a call back any time. I watched a couple of videos on Utube, and that gave me an idea what I was getting into, really not to too bad, It took about day for me to complete the install, using my sons to help pull this out and then place it back into place. George ,Re: Flat TowingLast Oct, we purchased a 2013 Ford Fiesta, and set this up for towing behind our 37 ft Residency, and find this to be workable for us. Just got back here in the northeast from Fla, about 3 weeks ago. The vehicle is small, and weight is about 2500#. Setup is quite easy, just set gearshift to netural, and wait for the ready light, then disconnect the battery. I installed a quick disconnect on battery, and this works great. Ford says its unlimited towing with this setup. This particular vehicle would not be for everyone.2013 Fiesta towing setupHi I have a Fiesta with 5k miles that I am looking to set up for flat 4 down, its the auto 6 sp ps tranny. Owner's manual says should work. Would like to find other users that might be towing the fiesta, and interested in what equipment you use, and any good, the bad whatever. Thanks, GeoRe: Help! 2011 Ford EscapeI am in the process of trying to locate a toad. I found a really nice Ford Fiesta 2011, low mileage, and contacted my local Ford Dealership, to inquire about flat towing, this particular auto, and they sent me a email with an attachment, that said starting with 2011, yes it could be towed. The manual stated that it could not be towed 4 down. So just this morning with what they sent me I took the paper and went to the dealership, and showed them, and they said they would do an oasis on the car. Guess what this car cannot be flat towed, even though their advertising stated this was a new thing for 2011. My recomedation for anyone thinking about towing a 2011 Ford product, best take the serial number, and have them do a oasis report on that particular vehicle. I am still looking for a suitable toad. Figured this is good FYI/Headsup. GeorgeRe: Onan 5500 Marquis Carburetor FixedThanks to the op for the low down on the 5500, congrads on the fix. I have a 5ooo, and thought I might have carb problems, but after replacing a VR, and running for an hour or so it leveled right out, and runs great, after not being run for about 7-8 years, will keep your post in mind. I have heard that sea foam works wonders, but have never needed yet. GeoRe: Commode not holding waterI have a sealand, and it would not hold water, but it had been setting for about 4 years, and this is a 2003 mh. I pulled the top off, and removed both rubber seals and cleaned them with dish liquid, and scrubbed the ball, but back together and it has been working perfectly for about two months. GeoRe: Norcold issue once againI just replaced my board about two weeks ago. The best price I found, was RV Cooling warehouse, in Memphis. It was 195. shipped, and I got it in pa, in 3 days. This was a Dinosaur board, which looked to be much better quality, than the original. This fixed problem. My problem was that it would not stay lit on Lp. I first replaced the flame sparker/Sensor, but this did not help, so the next step was the board, and this did take care of it. I also just last week took this in for the recall, as this was never taken in by the last owner. It seems to be doing ok now. The board is fairly easy to get at at least in my Residency by mhc. Did you replace your coils with the amish unit? I am only asking because I understand that many folks, that have this 1200, have done so. And I guess if mine should spring a leak, that would be an option for me, but really hope it just keeps on a chug-in. Good luck GeoRe: Quickee steps open and will not go inI believe that an outfit in Mechanicsburg, Pa. called flight systems repairs some of the kiwkee boards, and they also sell their version of onan boards and voltage regulators. They are less money also, with a better warranty. They can be found on line. I recently bought a VR from them for my generator, and it was about 180 bucks less than the onan, with a 3 yr warranty. Of course if its the motor that is bad, then controller might be ok. Good luck, GeoRe: Electrified frame, dead batteries!!!By any chance did you happen to have a trouble light in the area that you was, inspecting? Also with the right conditions, some people are a bit more sensitive than others, and can actually feel 12 volts dc, if they are damp or sweaty. Most of the electrical problems in autos that I have encountered over many years, have been corroded connections which translates into bad grounds, or open connections. Also a bad battery can cause good batterys to discharge if the isolation diodes happen to short, this actually happened on my old pace arrow. Someone earlier in this post mentioned to remove the battery, connection and I personally believe that's a great start. If you don't have a multimeter, and a test light, it would be a great time to get one, and if you can find a friend that has a bit better understanding, offer him a beer (to be drank later), for his help. Understand about the never give up concept, I too, am a bit hard headed. Good luck, your bound to find the answer, and there lots of good folks here to help. GeoRe: On the road generator problem. Help?Ken, I would make sure that both roof air conditioners are off if you have two, and then see if the power is still cycling. Also what make and model is your generator? I am a guessing that it may be an onan marquis, being a 5kw. It almost sounds like there A thermo breaker that is resetting rapidly, or possibly the change over relay is dropping out, in the auto transfer switch, possibly due to high current draw. Geo
