I would prefer to run 80 wth out the tolls, but don't know about construction or which is less steep. I will be driving a heavy truck camper. Thank you so much for recommending it!Re: Denver to San DiegoxRe: Anybody know what's going on with Happijac? That sucks. I don't know how some people stay in business with poor service these days. I am currently in Japan and have been buying a lot online preparing for my return to the states and a new camper. If a company does not answer my email with in 48 hours I will not do business with themRe: Grocery Shopping on the Road hdrichards wrote: Being retired military we prefer the commissaries when they are within our range of travel. Are they really worth it. I have been in for 18 years and I seldom shop at commissaries because the suck in every way, selection, quality and service and the price is not that much lower if at all.Re: Truck Grill GuardI did a bunch of research trying to decide between a Buckstop steel bumber (350 lbs with winch) or Aluminess aluminum (260 lbs with winch). I ended up going with the steel the weight savings could not justify the added cost, lack of durability and If repairs are needed more people I know are better at welding steel than aluminum. I also think the weight up front may help to balance some of the weight from the rear.Re: Tie downs? trail-explorer wrote: KD4UPL wrote: Torklift mount to the frame under the bed. Happijack mount to the bumper and behind the cab. Ditto. As flimsy (light weight) as truck bumpers are these days, I'd never consider it as an appropriate mounting mount for a camper tie-down. I see truck going down the road, and the bumper has a "twist" in it from using it as a tie-down point for a camper. I agree I want the frame mounted Torklift, but to complicate things I have wheel to wheel side steps. Torklift makes tie downs that will work with side steps, but I will loose 2" of clearanceRe: Tie downs? Thanks for explaining things. I understand now.Re: Tie downs? Thanks for all the replies I am in Japan and my only resource is the internet. I transfer back to the states in a couple weeks and pick up the camper I ordered. When I ordered it I asked for Torklift fast guns and that is what is on the camper build sheet, so I can safely assume I will have a frame mount.
