All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Double TowingOK. Hate to say this but we sat and pondered what to do. The options were few. We were 8 hours from home. The LEO said I had three options. Disconnect and leave the Razor on side of the road. Or he would escort us to a convenience store and we could leave it there or he would escort us to a near by RV park and we could call someone to come and pick up the second trailer with the Razor. We were on the way to Colorado where they have a 70ft law. We got up the next morning and left the RV park at 4:30 am and drove out of the way via two lane hwy to Oklahoma and then on into Colorado. I felt like a bank robber. Not a good situation at all. On the way home we took the Second trailer to a relatives house in Oklahoma and went back and picked it up months later. It was a night mare. I now have a Idaho Tote Trailer that loads from the side and I am legal. Never again.Re: Double TowingUnfortunately I am one that was caught over length and ticketed. I was 67 feet and driving below the speed limit. A weights and measures trooper got me in Wichita Falls Texas. Not good. Screwed up the start of a long planned vacation. He told me to correct the situation before moving. He did although let met drive to a nearby RV Park and determine how I would handle the delima. I would not do it as you will constantly be worrying every time you see a LEO. My two cents.Re: 5th Wheel Entrance StepsPort-a-Step. I have had them for a year now. and love them. The hand rail is a nice feature. http://www.rv-co.com/Re: Double-towing and the livin's easyThe Idaho Tote is hard bolted to the 5th wheel and is not considered a trailer but a tag. It is legal in all 48 states. You are required to move the license plate from the rv to the tote. When that is done you are legal.Re: Double-towing and the livin's easyMy worries are behind me. 63 ft and completely legal now. Attempted to load an image of my set up not sure if I did this correctly. Re: Double-towing and the livin's easyI do not think that many guys will enforce it but there are a few out there and knowing that leaves you with the worry while you are doing something that is supposed to be fun.Re: Double-towing and the livin's easyBeware! I received a ticket my third time out double towing two trailers 68 ft. The limit in Texas is 65. I was passing through Wichita Falls, Tx. We were on the way to Colorado towing a second trailer with a Polaris RZR. Kind of wrecked our vacation that year. He would not allow us to leave and escorted us to an RV park to decided how to handle the issue. We got up early the next am and took off. Needless to say I was nervous the rest of the way every time I saw DPS or any law enforcement. If I would have been stopped again the citation would have shown up and would have put me in a position to be impounded with a hefty fine. I would not advice towing over the limit!! I now tow with an Idaho Tote. It is not considered double towing since it is hard bolted to the 5th wheel. It has a steering axle not the swivel wheels as I did not like the look of that. The Tote is not cheaper but at least my worries are gone.Re: Lifestyle 5th wheel questionI also own a 2015 LS36. Ordered it with 8000lb axle's, disc brakes & the 17.5 H rated tires. The sticker on the unit now list a weight of 19K lb. Not enough room to put that much stuff in this unit. BTW - could not be happier with the full wall slide. Also, never expected the stopping performance on a big 5er to be this good. I would highly recommend the axle brake and tire upgrades.
