Going to US 101 from Williams is a very doable route. You come out just south of Willits. Stay on US 101 all the way up the coast. Many nice campgrounds along the way, both in CA and OR. Have done this route many times pulling a 40 foot 5th wheel. You can also go straight across I80 from Sacramento to US 101 and come out north of San Francisco. After having owned a 2004 Montana 3450RL for 10 years and having nothing but problems with it, starting with a leak in the bedroom slide; the decals fading and peeling; toilet having to be replaced three times; front electric jack motor being replaced twice; screws securing the sub-flooring in the kitchen working loose and puncturing the linoleum I thought that that was enough. I know that there are going to be problems with any RV, but I bit the bullet and got rid of it. I couldn't be any happier. I now am the happy owner of a 2014 Cardinal. Spend the winters at Pueblo El Mirage every year. Great park and everyone is very friendly. Lots of activities. Most of the park models are around the edges and near the golf course. Lots of open spaces for RV's. We have friends that stay in Surprise and most of the spaces seem crowded because of the added "Arizona" rooms, but they too have lots of activities. You get noise from Luke Air Force Base at either park, but you get use to it. They don't usually start flying until around 8:00am and are usually done by 8:00pm. Purchased a Reese Elite with my new F350, but had nothing but trouble with it. Finally, bit the bullet and got rid of it and got a B&W: great hitch; wish I had purchased it sooner. Several years ago my wife and I (with a fifth wheel)and another couple (in a motor home and toad) drove across country from CA to NY. Even though both rigs had the same number of axles (8) the other couple was charged almost twice as much as we were, and never the same amount, at each toll booth. When asked why the discrepancy none of the toll booth operators could give a straight answer. This happened in all of the states that we crossed that had toll roads. And, what are they doing with all of the tolls that are collected? I thought the highways in CA were bad, but the PA Turnpike was by far worse.184Views0likes0Comments
