All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Propane smell at furnace exhaust port I ordered a small propane detector and further looked into this. The propane was only detected in the exhaust port. There was no trace in the compartment, outside the furnace, or at any of the connections. I deduced it had to be the valve leaking. I replaced the valve and problem solved. Thanks for your suggestions and help. Re: Propane smell at furnace exhaust port First, I know how to diagnose a gas leak. Second, I don’t use the furnace when dry camping because it drains the batteries. I was asking if anyone else had encountered this problem. I replaced the valve and the leak is gone. Thanks for your very helpful reply. Propane smell at furnace exhaust port I was winterizing my camper today. The low point drains are located near the furnace exhaust. When I went to turn on the drains I noticed a propane smell coming from the furnace exhaust port. I’ve never noticed that before. We never use the furnace, when we have power we use a space heater, when we dry camp I use a Big Buddy heater. Could I have a valve leaking and how do I check on this? Re: Grey water tank won't drain completely Sounds like youe sensors are dirty. Buy the cheapest liquid dish washer detergent you can find, before next trip add 5 gallons of hot water and a cup of the detergent. The action of riding down the road will clean the sensors. Also helps if the gray tank starts to smell. Re: Atwood water heater problemThanks for the tips. Looks like I need to take it apart again.Re: Atwood water heater problemYeah, sorry for not starting with that info. Model is G6A-8E. Looks like manufactured in 04. I don’t believe it is electrical issue. It fires right up each time. I don’t use the furnace, so can’t speak to its performance. Stove burners burn smoothly. We did have an issue first trip in the spring, spider decided to make a web in the tube. Cleaned that out and had another trip where the heater worked fine. This just started on this trip and it acted the same for an 8 day trip. It DID heat the water just fine. The flame sounded just like it always does except for the hiccups.Atwood water heater problemWe have an Atwood water heater. Ours runs on propane. On our last trip it had an issue that I have never seen before. It would start as usual and sounded normal, and then it would hesitate occasionally. Kind of like when you are blowing and have to take a breath. The flame looks normal, it heats just fine. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks for any and all help.SolvedRe: AC Airflow opnspaces wrote: Really all you can do is get a less restrictive filter. Other than that you can run without a filter and run a separate standalone fin and filter. Although you asked what you can do to keep the filter so only the first applies. I’m not familiar with the standalone. Explain that please?AC AirflowI have an older Duotherm air conditioner. On our last trip a couple weeks ago I noticed lots of condensation around the panel in the ceiling. I pulled the panel and found the baffles directing the air had come loose. I taped them back up and turned the unit on to see if I had stopped the leaks. No air leakage. That looks good. I noticed the airflow out of the vents had increased greatly. This was with the panel off and no filter. I’m thinking this is great! I put a new filter in and replaced the panel. Airflow is back to not so great. I can’t believe the filter is cutting the airflow so much. Any ideas on a different way to filter and have better airflow?Re: New camper without 12 volt fridge ktmrfs wrote: agwill wrote: The newer one have a 12 volt compressor fridge which are very good and do not use the same power as the old units that heated up and drew lots of power and killed battery. Add a solar panel or two and you are good to go. good as long as there is sun and your parked in the sun or panels in the sun. I have a energy efficient compressor fridge in a small trailer, propane in the big one. Propane wins, mostly because propane BTU/gallon wins way out over FLA BTU/lb or BTU/volume. A gallon of propane will run my fridge for a week or more. A couple of batteries will run a compressor fridge for a few days at most. To the OP, recently looking at trailers many that come std with electric have an option for propane and vice versa Just a bummer that we are going to have to order one as an option. Not going to get the best deal on a new camper going that route.
