You will be able to mount a slide topper on that slide, but it probably won't be perfectly centered and you will need to consider the overall length of the topper so that you don't run out of mounting adjustment at the end away from the awning arm. The fabric at the awning arm end will probably end up flush with the slide box or slightly inboard. Not sure how they are calculating horsepower, but if I applied the same math they used to come up with the 11,500 lb-ft of torque then my 2014 CTD makes over 13,500 lb-ft at the wheel. The difference is that the Electric Vehicle has all it's torque available from zero RPM all the way to the top speed of the vehicle. Not that it matters for tow vehicles, but that is the major reason internal combustion vehicles get waxed by electric vehicles in a drag race.373Views0likes0CommentsRe: Slide-Out Backings
There probably are no backing plates for the slide out awning mounting brackets. When I installed them on our trailer, the upper bracket screws did go into the slide out top frame, but the lower screws just fastened through the outer skin. Instead of using a butyl sealer under the brackets, I used 3M black two sided tape and melted the screw holes with the soldering iron. For my Sewer Solution I use 1 1/2 inch lay flat discharge hose with PVC adapters on the ends in two 20 ft lengths that can be connected together. The hoses wind on to cable reels and everything goes into a Rubbermaid container. It has worked well for the last 10 years.260Views0likes0CommentsData Correction
I am not trying to re-start the Single/Dually debate that Barney closed (I was out camping this weekend and couldn't respond), but since I posted the original data, I thought it only right to Transamz9 to correct it. Rather than pulling data from towing charts, I pulled the data from the various year owner manuals. The data below apply to a GM 3500 diesel Crew Cab Long Box 4WD truck. The statement that a modern single wheel truck can handle more weight than an older dually is correct according to these data. These are maximums. The yellow sticker still rules for individual vehicles.
