Purchased a 1500watt Oil electric heater today, and that will not keep us warm either(we did turn the furnace OFF) after plugging in the electric Oil heater. Please! Any suggestions. After all the reading, tracing the furnace ducts(found a poorly routed duct)still very little air/heat out of the one of two vents. I've set the oil heater over the weak vent, and that seems to be holding the cold at bay!! Thanks again to all the well wishers.Re: How to stay warmThank you all, excellent advice. Today was figure it out day. The best I can find, is that there is only one vent in the middle of the floor (about 3" x6")and very little just warm air is coming out(it won't blow out a match). Only other vent is a 4" Oval vent at the bottom of a cabinet in the bathroom, and is blowing fairly good but is in the bathroom?? I checked the outside exhaust side of the heater, and it is blowing out better, and much hotter than the inside vents? The dealer we purchased from is over 200 miles away. We live at 4,000ft in the Tehachapi mountains. We are thinking the center vent is somehow blocked. There is about 1" of snow on the ground, so I will have to wait till later to pull the underside cover, so that I can follow the ducting. I'm 71, and a little slow after a couple of heart surgeries, so I brain farted the 12v vs 120v part. I did all the normal checks, two full 30lb propane bottles, all windows closed etc. I think we have a lack of vents problem. Thanks again. RonRe: How to stay warmThanks gentleman for the advice. I turned off the furnace, as I thought it would overload the electrical system. I'll turn it back on and give it a try. Thanks again.
