I won't worry about the converter/charger for this trip, but will get an upgrade this season. Thanks for the replies, and the assistance, JeffRe: Batteries on shore power.....what to do?I am not sure which converter/charger is installed. It is the one that came with the panel. In doing research for a replacement, the Elixir panel gets horrible reviews. So I assume the converter/charger is not all that great. JeffRe: Batteries on shore power.....what to do?They have been disconnected for about 3 hours. I will let them sit through the day, and report back this evening after they have sat for the day. Thanks, JeffRe: Batteries on shore power.....what to do?I appreciate the replies. I will take the advice, and just leave everything connected. To answer the questions above..... My trailer is a 2007 Starcraft Travel Star 18SD. It is equipped with a 45 Amp. Elixir panel. Nothing associated with the panel has been changed or upgraded. I do plan to upgrade the converter/charger this year. Batteries are US Battery brand, and the model number on both is US 2000 XC2. They are properly topped off with distilled water, and now disconnected from the charger. They are reading at 13.2 volts, using my nicer multi meter. Thanks again, JeffBatteries on shore power.....what to do?Hello All, At the end of June, my wife, and I are traveling to Yellowstone for 8 days, and 7 nights. I have two 6 volt golf cart batteries on the trailer that I installed last year. They have been on a maintenance charger all winter, and are showing 12.6ish volts. Upgrading to a smart converter/charger is on my short list of upgrades this year, but it is not going to happen before this trip. The campsite we reserved has a shore power connection. So I am thinking that leaving the trailer plugged into the shore power, and letting the power run through the old school converter/charger for the entire trip is a bad idea. I'm inclined to disconnect the batteries while we are there to prevent overcharging and/or possible damage. Thoughts? Thanks, JeffRe: Front Window Vent VisorWhile I do not have a set of AVS Ventvisors on a class B motor home, I do have a set on the front, and rear windows of my 2004 Silverado. After having them, I would never go without. They allow me to roll the windows down a bit for ventilation, and not have worry about the weather, and my door controls getting wet. The quality is great, and I simply wax them when I wax the rest of the truck. They still look new after 10+ years. I'm not exactly sure what you were asking, but hey....I gave it a shot. Enjoy, JeffRe: Bunk fan for a hot sleeper?I have a couple of the Lumitronics units that I use in my Starcraft Travelstar. I too have to have some air flow when I'm sleeping. They work well to move the air around when the zippered windows can't be opened, and they also help with condensation in the bunks when the outside temperature requires the use of the furnace. I would also suggest some Popup Gizmos for temperature, and condensation control. JeffRe: telescoping ladder?Take a look at a Little Giant brand ladder. I've used one for many years around my house, on job sites, and now I carry it on my trailer just in case. I have never had any issues with it, and at 15ish years old, it still functions perfectly, and is stable. JeffRe: Waited too long to get eclipse glasses. Alternatives?Try putting your back to the sun, and using the front facing camera on a smart phone. You should be able to view the eclipse on the phone screen. JeffRe: Booze in the RV... Legal?ThePowells, Of course they teach the Carroll Doctrine. I was addressing the OP, which supplied no PC for a search...... "First know I have no intention of drinking and driving with this question. But... What if you have some beer in your fridge while you move from one place to another? Or let's say even a passenger in the back drinks a beer? Or an old empty beer in the trash? I know all will say "Look up local laws", but it was not that easy. When I google it, I LITERALLY get results that say "Yes, it is fine", "No, it is illegal" and so on back and forth. I read MY local laws and they were unclear at best! So I figure I will ask people in this situation what they have found. Have any of you been given a hard time for booze in your RV? Do police seem to come in and check for this sort of thing? I imagine most RVers would have some type of alcohol on board at one time or another.. But I can't find any CLEAR CUT answers about it." Maybe I should have addressed the PC issue as well. However, based on the OP, the information it contained, and the specific question(s) asked, I did not see it as a necessity. Jeff
