It had about 750,000 views and several hundred thousand comments over the years. I spent a lot of time working on it so I can't imagine that "working around the clock" could have gotten that wrong. This new Forum does not feel user friendly - rather it seems to be designer friendly. Now I'm in travel trailers when I have a truck camper? My string on the old format was about a '67 Avion truck camper. It had tens of thousands of comments and (I think) around 750,000 views. If I recall correctly it was one of the top three strings on the Truck Camper forum. Now it's in "travel trailers". How can an error of that magnitude take place? Would whomever is a mod please give me a little help. We spent a lot of time on that string. Re: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photosNope, we couldn't get it together. D1 and I have signed a blood oath to make it to Muley Point next Spring. We're hoping we'll be joined by some other Avionistas.Re: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photosOK. This time looks right. Probably the latter part of September....Re: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photosRasta, no problem. Jane was worried about the Moki Dugway, but got over it after about half mile when she opened her eyes. Nice view over the side. Once you get to Muley Point, you're sitting on the edge of a sheer cliff with the finest views on the planet. I will say, however, it's the only place that has broken my tie downs as my rig shook rattled and rolled along the Point.Re: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photosYes, I'm planning to make the hegira to Muley Point in September. The time has come.....Re: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photosHi Garry. It's in Utah. Here is a description: Muley Point is a remote, scenic overlook near Mexican Hat offering stunning panoramic vistas of sweeping desert landscape. Extremely remote, Muley Point is located about 25 miles south of Natural Bridges Monument, accessible via a five-mile dirt and gravel road from SR-261. The road cuts through remote BLM lands until the turn-off just before Moki Dugway. There is a viewpoint about four miles in, but Muley Point is the real showstopper. On a clear day Monument Valley, the Four Corners, Valley of the Gods, and the Goosenecks are visible. Muley Point is a landscape of enormous boulders with cracks up to ten and even twenty feet deep. This is a place where you can sit still and hear the wind blow. The secluded overlook is considered one of the best free camping spots in the region, where overnighters can set up camp on the edge of sheer cliffs. The end of the gravel road enters the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.Re: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photosMuley Point calls!!!! I would like to get there this year. I have repairs on the '67 including batteries that failed over winter. And my water system seems a bit sick. But what do you think D1? Sometime in September?Re: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photosYes, indeed! I walked past the Avion a few years b ack when we were visiting in Tontitown, Arkansas. I noticed there was smoke coming from the water heater vent. I grabbed a fire extinguisher and quickly stopped the fire - an electrical connection. Of course, the hinge was broken in the process. When I put in the new water heater - which fit like a glove - I had to get the non OEM cover and vent.. This camper has a lot of history. If you look on the center of the roof you can see the new roof patch that Chuck fixed.Re: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photos Me and Chuck Cayo at the Cayo facility in Watervliet, Michigan on a late winter day. I got my Avion back. On the trip south I stopped several times for diesel, etc and as Cajunavion says, I had press conferences at the pump, inside the convenience store and once in the restroom. People love to talk about the Airstream on the back of a truck.
