I heve been doing thanksgiving potlucks in the desert for 20 years and wouldn't have it any other way. We always do a spriral cut ham (like honey baked) green bean caseral and something else. I like dove springs for the kids, not much deep sand to bog them down and plenty of trails for them to learn .and it's close to red rock park ,jawbone, Spangler ,there is plenty of camping along LA1 that goes for miles depending on how isolated you want to be.367Views0likes0CommentsRe: California OHV Outings Advice!
Be careful on thanksgiving most everywhere in the desert goes nuts. It's hard to escape the crazies. I take the kids to dove springs and near by areas . I avoid the dunes and find it fairly easy to find a safe non party area for the kids to play just about anywhere on non holidays109Views0likes0CommentsRe: camping in Ventura, CA
You can also stay on the Rincon beach. There is no hook up and it's first come first serve but there will be plenty of space in Jan. Not really a camp ground as much as a strip of beach you can camp along. You can't beat the views and you can hear the ocean at night. I installed a 750 watt harbor freight inverter in the battery compartment and wired the ac side to its own circuit on the electric panel where half of the outlets are. We leave the inverter on the entire trip and can easily run 2 flat screens and DVD players phone chargers and a small air filter. And starting and stopping the Gen set has no affect.total cost was less than 40 dollars. I also set the fridge up with DPDT ON OFF ON rocker switch so I can switch from shore power to gas to inverter852Views0likes0Comments
