They are "red" roads but OK for an RV. Red roads?? Never heard of that description.Re: Pismo>Vegas>Bryce>Salt Lake>Yellowstone>Glacier & back.I can only speak for the following. Oasis, nice place right off I15. Rubys was an ok, thought sites were close. Sparks very nice also, not far from Interstate. If you plan on driving N on I15 through Vegas. You may want to reconsider. Major road construction, take the 215 bypasses. It is a few miles longer with minor construction. I 15 is a complete mess with the Neon project. Good luck and enjoy the sights.Re: New to the group. woodworker414 wrote: Hi olddog49, we are living the dream. As you know we only get to go down this road one time.So its up to us to have fun. Absolutely correct, Woodworker....As the song says, Life is a highway. Keep enjoying it all as long as your able.Re: New to the group.Way to go....live life!!Re: overnight stop nayther wrote: heading to Utah 10.26. Need to do an overnight stop somewhere near Vegas. Will probably just be stop, eat, sleep. No need for spot, just stop. Any suggestions? We've never been the Walmart camping type but have stayed in rest area or pulled off into the desert and boon docked. We certainly don't need power, have generator, etc. Construction on I 15 North through Vegas is a major headache anytime, rush hour much worst. We take the 215 bypass around, a few miles longer but no bumper to bumper. Check NVDOT on road construction for I15.. Last week they closed the entire interstate for a couple miles and you had to take exit and find a way around the construction. Strongly suggest the 215 by pass.Re: Recommended rv park ken56 wrote: I think you have a whole bunch of research to do on this. This is something you are going to have to decide for yourself. I understand a few suggestions could be helpful but this to me is a very personal decision. What might make me happy may be totally unacceptable to you. That said, Crossville area may have something you would like. Nice city. Golf capital of TN. It hhas the Cumberland County Playhouse that is great entertainment. Nice small county airport. It has some nice campgrounds. Try calling some of them and ask questions. I have stayed at Deer Run and it had a long term section to it. Don't know about the others in the area. Understood and agree. We have looked at several parks in the area. Spring Lake, Caney Creek Whispering River and Deer Run also. Seems they all have their plus ans minuses. Checked RV parks and reviews to see what folks had to say about them. Mixed at best. We may just bounce around a bit checking them all out. Thanks for your comments.Recommended rv parkWe have decided to go full time towards end of year. We are interested in the area between Knoxville and Nashville Tenn. Along the I 40 corridor mostly. Recommendations for long term, pros and cons of park. TIARe: Route help through mobile Al? henleyd wrote: Taking the MH on the way over to Orange beach and have to get thru mobile from the west from hwy 98. Anyone with some advice on the best way thru appreciated. Stay on straight thru the city or go around north or south to get to I-10? Thanks. Try Hwy 98 to I65 South, merge to I 10 East. Go through tunnel, height not a problem as semis go thru all day long. Take the Loxley exit, get on Hwy 59 South. Straight shot to Orange BeachRe: Towing Explporer 4 down Tripalot wrote: Doing without the remote start is a lot better than dealing with a dolly. Anyone we know that has used a dolly got rid of it -- too much hassle. I understand your reasoning, and would agree. The exception is.. from late June through early Sept. in Southern Nevada Temps range over 110-117, makes for a hot steering wheel even with window tint and a sunscreen blocking windshield. Reckon we need a cooler climate :).Re: Towing Explporer 4 down sch911 wrote: Find a baseplate that doesn't require the removal of the Active Grille Shutters (If one is available). Modify the Active Grill Shutters so that they clear the base plate and still function. I don't see where Ford Engineers have any fault here. Modification of an active vehicle system is usually going to affect other things. And there are most likely other variants of the Explorer that don't have AGS at all. Ok, Ford engineers may not be at fault. After speaking with Blue Ox, when I purchased the base plate. Blue Ox only had 1 model for the Explorer. Now they have 2 the newer one will accommodate the shutter setup. That said, I'm not spending more money to change out base plates. Figure the model Explorer we have was build late 2016 and has some features that were not on the earlier 2016 model. Seems the 2017 Explorers have the same shutter setup. Blue Ox product BX2668 will work great as they told me.
