I've seen 98 3 times, 2 of those times it was towing the same Jeep. It had plenty left, just ran out of open countryside. Lower profile helps on wind resistance. But none of that matters, what really matters is what is practical to drive. One should note that the stock Workhorse gas chassis has a 30,000 GCWR. the point is we are talking mountain passes and 38000 lbs not flat land and 14K or 15K.Take your 502 as I have said fifty times and put it in my 38K gross unit and u wont go up that same hill at 45MPH never mind your claim of 80.that's my whole point.!!!Re: 350 HP ICE vs. 350 HP Diesel? You can build a 900HP 360 c.i. engine that will push that 18,000 lb. motorhome over 100 mph, but it will not last very long. I have seen many NASCAR engines fail in those races. It did seem there were less engine failures last year though. Mostly broken valve springs. yes but not up 6+7% grades and like you said would never last NASCAR engine failures have been very few in last few years compared to the old days. But back then those were not the $100K super engines being used today.Lots of start at the back of the pack because of engine replacement is not neccessarely because it blew upRe: Do I need a lawyer? frelsang wrote: Thanks to everyone's feedback and advice, I will contact DMV and BMV today the dealership claim that they are the biggest in Southern California, I been a very nice customer to them, but as soon as I signed the deal wrote them the check no one would answer my calls can't get any question answer. they know they don't need my business for the next many years, even the warranty work they know I could go to any Winnebago service dealer, the dealer name is McMahon Rv Westminster CA. seeing as U have named the dealer(McMahon) I will come forward and tell you this happned to a friend of mine in 2011.Same deal kept getting interest charges from bank on a the vehicle he traded in one month I believe in his case. Its amazing that if this is as illeagl as suggested how these guys (McMahon)keep doing this year after year??obviously DMV don't do their job as well as smith suggestsRe: How many of you are running your AC units?86 today and 91 tomorrow in the Coachella valley CaliforniaRe: Trying to choose mikeintn wrote: We are looking to upgrade out 1998 Tiffin Allegro and have found 2 different coaches that have caught our attention. They are really close in price and one is about 30 minutes away and the other about an hour so that's no issue. The 2 we are looking at are a 2000 Tiffin Allegro Bay with upgrades inside and a V10 with a Banks system installed on a F53 frame. The other is a 2000 Coachmen Catalina diesel pusher on a Freight liner chassis. At this time I haven't seen either in person, just pictures and talked to the dealers some. If anyone has an opinion on this please help me out, thanks in advanced! need info? If you feel like you would like to do it, do it but as you said, it would just be "just one more reference" and if you are looking to find that "Discriminating Motor Coach Adventurer" you have just cut your market again by about 99%. I pick a park basis upon my travel requirements. If I want to visit St. Louis and you don't like the parks in the area I am not going to stay in St. Charles because there is a park there for the Discriminating RVer! ?Re: How many of you are running your AC units? What comments can be made about the advantages/disadvantages of a 350 HP internal combustion engine vs. a 350 HP diesel engine in a class A camper (assuming all other variables are equal)? Good first post which certainly opened Pandora's Box. If you intend on putting on a awfully lot of miles and keeping the rig a very long time, you want a diesel pusher. If you are not going to put mega miles on it and don't plan on keeping it for a long time, you want a gasoline rig. And if you have read all the posts in this thread, you probably now realize that not all 350 HP internal combustion engines are not created the same, and the same with 350 HP diesel engines. you want diesel pusher(newer not old ones) also if u want quite, nice ride(air) better brakes, better handling and over all better builtRe: Upgrading to a 10,000 reciever? palehorse89 wrote: hardtobe wrote: palehorse89 wrote: The one thing I am having trouble with is finding one that will work , I have talked to a rep. at Curt Mfg. , not to much help. My receiver now is bolted on, by design, tight to the frame rails where it bolts on with no drop, my bolt holes on each frame rail are 6" apart, 3 on each rail. Can someone with a newer Coach(Newmar) with a class 4 or 5 hitch tell me the brand of hitch and the model number. I would like to find a close replacement in height as the receiver that is on there now comes through the rear flap and I don't want to have to change the flap if I don't have to. A 10K curt hitch # 81400 is 28 inch between rails and 2 inch wide mount plates so total OD 32 inch and no drop.dead level the mount holes are 6.5 inch center to center (3) per side easy to drill more if needed My frame is about 28.5 wide ID so hitch fits very nicely at 28inch body width I did a search on the web and the Curt website and the hitch number #81400 does not turn up any results?........ If I don't have to I don't really want to drill, cut, weld, paint, if I do not have to and like posted above, mine now is a "no drop hitch" and have to stay with that for receiver height. Just went and rechecked and it says CURT manufacturing #81400 15000lb 1500 tongue phone curt and ask TOLL FREE 877.CURTMFG 877.287.8634 TOLL FREE 800.738.7213 and to NOTE:call sparton as this hitch was installed under sparton/curt federal recall
