Today, oil went back up another $5.00 a barrel to $141+. Iran is testing missiles and rebels in Nigeria are acting up. America needs to get or increase its own oil supplies. Everyone has his/her idea on what's going on. Thats good. It's what makes this a great forum. I only wish the powers that be are looking at this forum. Quite frankly even if you or I would contact our representatives in Washington, all we would receive would be lip service. We have some serious problems in this country and Big Oil is one of them. Keep on keeping on. Larry G.Re: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!I can remember the Arab oil embargo of the 70's. President Nixon asked all Americans to conserve. America did. What happened? Everything went up in price because Americans were not spending and conserving energy, etc. It was a lose-lose situation. Adding taxes to the already burdened taxpayer is foolish. Adding more taxes to big oil would push up the prices at the pump and rich will still get richer. Larry G.Re: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here! The scariest thing about the rising cost of fuel is this: A couple of months ago some brainless idiot said that gas would be $4.00 a gal by this summer. BINGO. It's that and more. No these same brainless idiots say that by next year or so gas will be $7.00 a gallon. The other day oil closed above $145.00 a barrel. I believe because of these idiots, oil will continue to rise based on their speculation. I can't blame OPEC or the Arabs for this. Its got to be the speculators. My sympathies go out to Mr and Mrs Joe America. They are losing their jobs because of the speculators. They can't afford to hardly buy groceries. Many of us who participate in this forum have either invested wisely or are on a fixed income. We have parked our motor home in Florida and drive drive back and forth (not on a daily basis) but monthly or every 2 months because we are on a fixed income and overall it's cheaper to put gas in the car than in the RV. Anyway, this comment probably doesn't make much sense so I will get off my soapbox and enjoy the rest of the weekend before heading back to Florida. Please drive carefully and have a great time. Happy trails. Larry G.Re: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!Well, we finally decided to do it. Because it's getting so expensive to get around in a RV we have decided to park our MH in an RV Park where you lease a lot. So, we will be full-timers in Florida and still be able to use the MH. I hate to give in to the high price of gas but when you are on a fixed income you have to make choices. The cost per month of the lease plus water and electric is less than $250 a month. This we can afford and driving here from our home is only about 400 miles plus we get close to 40 mpg in our toad. This is not the reason we purchased our MH. We planned on traveling west and north for lengthy trips. Oh, well. Se la vie (that's life). Happy trails.
