Re: Your Favorite Boondocking PicsHere's our latest weekend out in early September. What a great time of year to be out in the central Colorado boonies! Re: Your Favorite Boondocking PicsThis was a quick three-day trip I recently took in central Colorado the first week of January. We're currently in a drought, with very little snow, but this makes boondocking at 9K feet in the Colorado Rockies possible this time of year. Re: Your Favorite Boondocking PicsEaster weekend in Pike National Forest. Beautiful weather, peace, and quiet! Re: Black Tank Dump In Canon CityThanks for the replies. The Conoco on Raynolds Ave. in Canon City worked just fine.Black Tank Dump In Canon CityWe're going to boondock an overnight in the hills this weekend, and I wonder when we get back to town in Canon City...is there a black tank dump station in town?Re: Your Favorite Boondocking PicsLast week in Pike National Forest in Colorado. What a great time! Re: Still Boondocking in ColoradoDry weight is right at 3,000 and I'm not sure what wet weight is, but I would guess around 3,300. My fresh tank was empty. I hauled 5 gallons of fresh water in the back of my truck.Still Boondocking in ColoradoA week ago I spent three days and two nights boondocking along a state highway here in Colorado at an elevation of 9,000 feet. Winter is coming late this year, so I took advantage of the good roads to boondock at the trailhead for my elk hunt. I only spent the evening hours and slept in my trailer, and only ran the furnace fan with the battery. I used AA battery "UFO" lights and it was cool enough that I put my food in the fridge without running it and everything stayed cold. I was pretty happy with the trip, mainly because it was the coldest trip i've made and I gained some insight on what it takes to boondock in my trailer this time of year. Here's my rig on the Continental Divide on the way home. Re: Fall Boondocking in ColoradoContinued thanks for the latest replies. I am very familiar with the area south of Trout Creek Pass and east of the Arkansas River, and I agree that there are lots of spots there and that it stays comparatively mild later than points north and higher elevation. I used to hunt elk and antelope in that area. Will watch the weather and plan (or cancel) accordingly.
